Rough Guide To Peru Rare Groove

LP (Item 165414) Rough Guide, 1960s/1970s — Condition: Sealed
Sweet sounds from the Peruvian scene of the 60s and 70s – music that starts in more familiar Latin modes, then quickly expands to a range of other hip South American sounds! The mix of modes here is maybe similar to the Colombian music of the period – sometimes romping with fast-moving rhythms, sometimes a bit more complicated, in ways that really unlock the jazzier sides of the instrumentation – and which echo some of our favorite New York work of the time. There's a few organ-heavy tracks that are especially great – and the package is put together by Pablo Yglesias, who's done some other great sets of this nature. Titles include "Lamparita" by Los Compadres Del Ande, "Lluvia Con Nieve/El Molestoso" by Carlos Pickling Y Su Organo Espacial, "Lobos Al Escape" by Andres De Colbert Y Su Orquesta, "La Palmadita" by Los Blacanguay, "Son Con Boogaloo" by Pedro Miguel Y Sus Maracaibos, "Tambores De La Selva" by Juaneco Y Su Combo, and "Nuestro Pobreza" by Chacal Y Sus Estrellas.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
