Hello Broadway

LP (Item 164349) Continental (Japan), 1982 — Condition: Near Mint-
A Japanese set that hearkens back to a mode used by Contemporary Records in the late 50s – a trio date with Norio Maeda on piano, Kenichi Uchiyama on bass, and Takeshi Inomata on drums – featuring music from My Fair Lady on one side, and West Side Story on the other!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Sketches Of Spain
Columbia, 1960. Near Mint-
A beautiful collaboration between Miles Davis and the great Gil Evans – and perhaps the most perfectly realized of all their projects! One of Chet Baker's most classic albums of the 50s – a record that features both vocals and strong trumpet solos – all from a time when Baker was one of the hottest things going in jazz! Donald Byrd

Byrd In Flight
Blue Note, 1960. Near Mint-
A wonderfully lyrical session from trumpeter Donald Byrd – yet for some reason, the album's one of his most overlooked from the 60s! Fantasy, Late 50s. Near Mint-
A killer record from the late 50s – and one that hints at all the sides Stan would take in later years: his bossa sides, his vibes quartet with Gary Burton, and the playful lyricism of his recordings with Chick Corea. The set was recorded in San Francisco, when Stan had that great bassist ... LP, Vinyl record album
Capitol, Early 60s. Near Mint-
Oddly titled "The Debut On Disc", this set isn't really Solal's first on vinyl – but it is some classic early modernist material. Side one features a trio with Guy Pederson and Daniel Humair – on some amazing compositions by Solal, like "Ouin-Ouin", "Theme A ... LP, Vinyl record album

Alpine Power Plant – Recorded In Switzerland
MPS (Germany), 1972. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
An excellent MPS big-band session, in a mode that's sort of a mix between the firey hardbop of the Clarke-Boland ensemble, and the more modernist work of George Gruntz. The band is directed by Gruntz – and is co-led by Gruntz, Franco Ambrosetti, Flavio Ambrosetti, and Daniel Humair. The ... LP, Vinyl record album
