Turn Out The Lights

LP (Item 164040) Arista, 1981 — Condition: Sealed
Originally: 2.99
(Still sealed with a cut corner & hype sticker.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Grateful Dead

In The Dark
Arista, 1987. Near Mint- Gatefold
An album that hardly has the Grateful Dead in the dark – given that it was one of their biggest of the 80s, and really helped the group find a big new audience, thanks to a surprising hit! All the older elements are still in place, but the production has definitely changed since the early ... LP, Vinyl record album

Kinks

Low Budget
Arista, 1979. Very Good+
A real standout in the later catalog of the Kinks – a record that gave the group a number of minor hits, and which let them rock out a bit more than usual – in a style that was clearly influenced by the punk of the period, but which also had sort of a Pete Townsend-esque quality to it. ... Grateful Dead

Terrapin Station
Arista, 1977. Sealed
The first Grateful Dead album on Arista, and a set that definitely marks a new chapter for the group – one that has them using a surprising amount of soul references in their music, in part through some heavy vocal contributions from Donna Jean Godchaux! The arrangements are fuller than ... LP, Vinyl record album

Grateful Dead

Shakedown Street
Arista, 1978. Near Mint-
A big late 70s moment for the Grateful Dead – a set that has the group working with Lowell George in the production chair, and cooking up a roots rock blend that showed up on plenty of turntables at the time! The record's kind of an extension of the territory of Terrapin Station, but maybe ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jack Bruce

Songs For A Tailor
Atco, 1969. Near Mint-
A stunning solo debut from Jack Bruce – and a record that shows just how much more he had to offer the world than his work in Cream! Right from the start, the album's a thing of brilliance – with very offbeat lyrics penned by Pete Brown, but in ways that are a bit more down to earth ... LP, Vinyl record album

Steely Dan

Aja
ABC, 1977. Very Good+ Gatefold
An undisputed masterpiece, and a record we never tire of hearing – unabashedly the inspiration for our years of jazzy exploration as adults, even though it was probably the closest thing we ever got to the genre as wee lads!
