Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Art Pepper

Surf Ride
Savoy/King (Japan), 1952/1954. Used
A classic 50s album on Savoy – a set that's almost as memorable for its cartoony cover as it is for the great Art Pepper material on the record! Pepper's tone here is wonderful – that sharper-edged, more soulful approach that you often get in his smaller label 50s work – a nice ... CD

Hank Crawford

Tico Rico
Kudu/King (Japan), 1976. Used
Hank Crawford's always been a great saxophonist – but he's also one that sometimes works even more strongly in a bigger group setting – as you'll hear on this 70s Kudu session with funky arranger David Matthews! Dave takes the groove forward from the sound that Hank sometimes had back ... CD
Kudu/King (Japan), 1977. Used
Hank Crawford turns his back on the cover of this sweet little set from Kudu – but the groove itself is very upfront, strongly in the best mix of funky jazz and club the label had going down into the late 70s! Arrangements are by David Matthews, who keeps things lean and mean, even when the ... CD

Stanley Turrentine

Cherry (Japanese pressing)
CTI/King (Japan), 1972. Used
One of the best CTI albums from the early 70s – and one of Stanley Turrentine's funkiest records as well! The album's got a sharper edge than most other Turrentine albums of the time – a quality that goes beyond Stan's already soulful approach to the tenor, and which brings in some ... CD

CTI/King (Japan), 1972. Used
A legendary album from the 70s funk scene – and one of the crowning achievements of keyboard maestro Eumir Deodato! Deodato got his start during the bossa years of the 60s – where his sophisticated charts were already enough to make his career a landmark – but in the following ... CD
CTI/King (Japan), 1974. Used
An excellent little live set from Deodato – hard to believe because the sound's just as tight and funky as his studio albums, and possibly even more interesting because he manages to pull it off equally well in a live setting! The record features percussion by Airto, guitar by John Tropea, ... CD
King/Chess/Gambit (Spain), 1956/1960. Used
2 albums' worth of rare early work from Roland Kirk – back to back on one CD! First up is the classic Third Dimension set for Bethlehem – a record that's not as groundbreaking as later sessions, but still filled with fire and imagination, and proof that the famous blind player was a ... CD

Joe Lovano/Marilyn Crispell/Carmen Castaldi

ECM (Germany), 2021. Used
Joe Lovano is one of those players who only seems to go deeper at a time when he could be taking it easy – really pushing his talents to new territory, and finding ways to evolve the way that he expresses himself! That's definitely the case here, in his second album with the trio of Marilyn ... CD
