Theme From The Silencers

LP (Item 1622) Diplomat, Mid 1960s — Condition: Very Good+
A knockoff group – like a lot of the stuff on Diplomat – but they're pretty swingin' nonetheless, and lay down nice versions of the spy themes "The Silencers" and "Our Man Flint". The album's short – and more like an e.p. – but the keyboards are pretty groovy, and it's got a great cover of two scantily clad women, holding guns and looking like spies.  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Black label stereo pressing. Cover has light wear and aging, with a half split top seam, small center split in the spine, and wide center split in the bottom seam.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

RCA, 1962. Near Mint-
A crazy hammond organ workout on a variety of standards and a few originals. This is smoking stuff that has a jazzy swinging feel, but is marked with the virtuosity implied by "13 fingers". Sort of like stuff by the John Buzon Trio. Also includes "Bach Goes Berserk", "Sir ... LP, Vinyl record album
Liberty, 1967. Near Mint-
Pretty darn nice later work from Martin Denny – a great batch of sexy tracks with stunning backings, and a really nice late 60s mellow piano groove! Enoch Light

Brass Menagerie 1974
Project 3, 1974. Very Good+
Forget how much you don't like Enoch Light's snoozy early albums for Command, these Brass Menagerie LPs are very nice, very groovy, and have a good sound that's much livelier than Enoch's other LPs. This one includes goofy covers of "Shaft" and "Season Of The Witch", plus " ... LP, Vinyl record album

Martin Denny

Another Taste Of Honey
Liberty, 1963. Very Good+
A sweet follow up to Martin Denny's Taste Of Honey album – one that's got a great blend of piano, vibes, and percussion – all used in a way that's almost more jazz-like than some of Denny's earlier work! The formula works great to transform a host of 50s and 60s tunes – and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Peter Herbolzheimer - MPS Rhythm Comb. & Brass

Power Play
MPS, 1973. Very Good
Classic funky MPS material from Peter Herbolzheimer and his legendary group of European and American ex-patriot players. Stylistics

Rockin' Roll Baby
Avco, 1973. Very Good
The third album by The Stylistics – and a set that's still very much in the high-harmony territory of their first two classics!
