All That Jazz

LP (Item 16218) Orion, Early 60s — Condition: Very Good

Vibist/percussionist Bobby Christian leads a small combo through a tight run of tracks designed to provide a showcase for the choreography of jazz dance master Gus Giordano. The tracks have a very groovy sound, with a nice early 60's jazz feel that sounds like it was lifted from a crime soundtrack or a cop show. Percussion's nice and heavy, and tracks include "Yalcin Drums", "Staccato Drums", "Drums Galore", and "Man With the Golden Arm".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Blue label pressing with deep groove. Cover has light wear and aging.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

20th Century, 1978. Near Mint-
A great little set from Ahmad – laidback, mellow, with a slowly spiralling groove that's slyly funky at times. Dewey Redman Quartet

Living On The Edge
Black Saint (Italy), 1989. Very Good+
The album's got a bit of an odd title – as we hardly think that Redman was living on the edge at the time – but it's also a great little set, no matter what the name! Dewey's playing in a soulful and inside mode on most tracks – working in a style that recalls some of Archie ... LP, Vinyl record album

A stone classic from The Brecker Brothers – working here at a new level for 70s jazz fusion!
