This Is Hot Too

LP (Item 160417) Hot Records (UK), 1986 — Condition: Near Mint-
With selections by The Celibate Rifles, Chad's Tee, Lighthouse Keepers, Mushroom Planet, Chris Abrahams, Coloured Stone, The Triffids, Ed Kuepper, Gaspar Lawal, The Wreckery, Whadya Want?, and The Benders.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has hype and distro stickers.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Lighthouse

One Fine Morning
Evolution, Early 70s. Near Mint-
We're never really sure what to call Lighthouse. Are they "folk rock"? "Rock"? Or just plain groovy? Whatever the case, though, this is the album that includes their great cut "One Fine Morning". In case you don't know it, it's got a great funky riff that starts ... LP, Vinyl record album

Ampex, 1970. Very Good
Todd Rundgren in all of his great early glory – a record that's filled with simple, honest pop tunes – and one that also takes on a few experimental touches as well – but only in ways that further the earnest charm at its heart! Something/Anything?
Bearsville, 1972. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
Arguably one of the greatest pop albums of all time – a pure act of genius from Todd Rundgren, and one of the few cases in rock music where two records are actually better than one! The double-length set was Rundgren's third solo effort after the breakup of Nazz – but it's a broad step ... LP, Vinyl record album

Mothers Of Invention (Frank Zappa)

We're Only In It For The Money
Verve, 1968. Very Good+ Gatefold
An early masterpiece from Frank Zappa – one of those records that looks like it's going to be a big ol' mess when you first see the cover – but which turns out to be a carefully calculated act of madness in the end! The Mothers have all their freeform freaky brilliance intact here ... LP, Vinyl record album

Yellow Submarine
Apple, 1968. Near Mint-
Sure it's a soundtrack, and sure it's got a number of songs that are just instrumentals from the film – but the record also features some excellent late Beatles tracks that can only be found here – including the killer tracks "Hey Bulldog" (almost a funky nugget), "Only A ... CTI, 1974. Very Good+ Gatefold
A landmark album – not only for Bob James, but for CTI and the Fender Rhodes as well! Jack McDuff

Live
Prestige, 1963. Very Good
A killer, and one of three live sides that Hammond organ genius Brother Jack McDuff cut for Prestige during the 60s – a monster session of stretched-out jazzy grooves, with many fine little dancers, and a raw soulful feel throughout! The group's one of Jack's best – as Red Holloway's ... LP, Vinyl record album
