This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
One of Jack McDuff's first albums as a leader – and a really solid cooker that also features vibes and tenor sax! Given that McDuff hardly ever recorded with vibes again, the session's got a real standout sound that deserves to be heard – as Jack's smoking work on the Hammond comes ... LP, Vinyl record album
An early 60s album that brings together some excellent early 50s sides by Zoot Sims – originally issued on 10" LPs, but expanded here with better notes and more space! Half the set features a group with Harry Biss on piano, Clyde Lombardi on bass, and Art Blakey on drums – and the ... LP, Vinyl record album
A killer from the 60s years of tenorist Willis Jackson – a time when the older R&B player was really rising to the top – thanks to the sort of smoking soul jazz setting that a record like this could provide! The whole thing's great – very much in the Groove Holmes or Jack ... LP, Vinyl record album
A session of "collectors items" that Miles Davis recorded for Prestige in the 50s – both dates that were too short to be issued as albums by themselves, combined here into one full length record! The first batch of material is from 1953 – and features Davis working with Sonny ... LP, Vinyl record album
Pow is right – as Stitt grooves with a tight combo that features Benny Green on trombone, Kirk Lightsey on piano, Herman Wright on bass, and Roy Brooks on drums. The album's one of a few sides produced in the mid 60s by Richard Carpenter, a jazz manager/impresario who cut Chet Baker on some ... LP, Vinyl record album
Great sounds from Billy Taylor – a player who was definitely big in the mainstream at the time of this late 60s date, but who really finds a way to return strongly to his roots! Taylor's playing here with that nicely punctuated style that made him one of the biggest groovers in the early 50s ... LP, Vinyl record album
4 long tracks with plenty of room to roam around – a perfect setting for a young John Coltrane to demonstrate his distinctly different approach to the tenor sax! The album's one of Trane's key classics for Prestige – a quartet side that features backing by the trio of Red Garland on ... LP, Vinyl record album
A killer session from Horace's famous quintet that included Blue Mitchell, Junior Cook, Gene Taylor, and Louis Hayes – one of the group's earliest recordings for Blue Note – and also one of their best! The band had a unique mix of rootsy soul jazz playing and more exotic approaches to ... LP, Vinyl record album
A richly complex album from vibist Teddy Charles – easily one of his greatest albums ever, and certainly one with the boldest sound! The groups here are filled with hip players – all working under Charles' direction in a set of tracks that shimmers with dark sounds and moody colors ... LP, Vinyl record album
Funky keyboards galore – and one of the greatest records ever from this legendary Brazilian jazz talent! The album follows nicely off Deodato's Prelude classic for CTI – and like that one, this set's built on long-flowing tunes that rise and fall with a wonderful sense of rhythm – ...
