More West Coast Jazz With Stan Getz

The title's a bit misleading, but the record's a great one! Oddly, the album's not a follow up to the West Coast Jazz album by Stan Getz – firstly, because it wasn't actually done on the west coast, and secondly, because this one was actually recorded two years before! But that doesn't stop the set from being great – and we can certainly forgive Verve's free use of west coast in the title as more of a stylistic definition than anything else. But even with that name in place, there's almost more of a Boston modern feel going on – one that's open, fluid, and which features the tenor of Getz alongside some tremendous trombone work from a young Bob Brookmeyer. Rhythm is by the trio of John Williams on piano, Frank Isola on drums, and Teddy Kotick on bass – but at moments, the horns almost hang together alone, especially on the longer, mellower tracks! Titles include "I Didn't Know What Time It Was", "Willow Weep For Me", "Crazy Rhythm", "Tangerine", and "The Nearness Of You". © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
