Golden Seal

LP (Item 156753) Compleat, 1983 — Condition: Sealed
(Still sealed, with a small sticker spot.)

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Wrong Box
Mainstream, 1966. Very Good+
One of the lesser-known John Barry scores of the 60s – penned for an equally lesser-known comedy that starred Michael Caine, Peter Sellers, Peter Cook, Tony Hancock, and Dudley Moore! The tunes have kind of a period feel with slight whimsical touches – not as mod and groovy as you ... LP, Vinyl record album
WIP (France), Mid 70s. Near Mint-
Excellent slinky sexy 70s work by Francis Lai – the famous French composer who's penned some of our favorite scores, and who's working frequently here in a "sex behind the curtains" style that's pretty great. There's lots of electric moments, and apart from a few tracks that have a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sam Waymon

Ganja & Hess
Strange Disc, 1973. Sealed
The incredible soundtrack for the black cinema classic Ganja & Hess – a film that's often cited in the history of blacksploitation films, but which is much deeper overall! In some ways, both the movie and soundtrack are like Sweet Sweetback's Baadass Song – created in the same ... LP, Vinyl record album
Diaphon (Australia), 1954. Near Mint-
(Purple label pressing with deep groove in a flip back cover. Cover has some ringwear, yellowing from age, and a torn portion at the bottom flip back.) LP, Vinyl record album

Libby & Stephen McNeil/David Rose

San Francisco – My Enchanted City
Seal Records, 1958. Very Good+
A very cool record that we might well put right up there with Mel Torme's "California Suite" as a musical tribute to the west coast – or the "Manhattan Tower" of Gordon Jenkins as some sort of tribute to a city! The album's a long piece on the glory of San Francisco ... LP, Vinyl record album
United Artists, 1970. Sealed
A dramatic score by Mancini – but a really nice one, thanks to lots of exotic percussion touches – often played by Emil Richards! Overall, the record's kind of a late 60s take on the exotica of Les Baxter's earlier Capitol recordings – with lots of dreamy tunes that conjure up ... LP, Vinyl record album
Regency, 1982. Sealed

Ennio Morricone

I Western
RCA (Italy), 1971. Near Mint-
A great early set collecting some of Morricone's Western themes, 17 tracks in all from "Il Buono, Il Brutto E Il Cattivo", "Le Pistole Non Discutono", "Il Ritorno Di Ringo", "C'Era Una Volta Il West", "Una Pistola Per Ringo", "Pistole Per I ... LP, Vinyl record album

Miles Davis

Bitches Brew
Columbia, 1969. Very Good 2LP Gatefold
One of the few cases in jazz where an oft-played classic still resonates with power! The record itself is a key cap to Miles Davis' already-groundbreaking years of the 60s – a bold step forward, not just for his nascent electric sound, but also for jazz in general – and the benchmark ...
