What Does It Take To Win Your Love

LP (Item 15131) SOUL, 1969 — Condition: Near Mint-
Hard honking sax from Jr and crew – wailing away in the uptempo northern mode that always made them a bit hit on the dancefloor. The LP includes their big single "What Does It Take To Win Your Love", plus strong originals like "Sweet Soul", "Ame Cherie (Soul Darling)", and "Hot Cha" – plus the usual round of groovy covers.  © 1996-2022, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Original pressing, including Motown inner sleeve. Cover has a cutout notch, light surface wear, light center splitting on top & bottom seam.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Peace & Understanding Is Hard To Find
SOUL, 1973. Near Mint-
A record that has Jr Walker and the group stepping out with some of the righteous touches promised in the title – partly in the choice of songs on the set, which are all nicely tucked into that strong mix of deep soul vocals and saxophone lines that had become the Jr Walker groove! Gladys Knight & The Pips

Nitty Gritty
SOUL, 1969. Very Good
One of our favorite albums by Gladys Knight – a set that seems to have a lot more edge than some of her later work, thanks to some rumbling production from the legendary Norman Whitfield! In a way, Norman's almost applying the Temptations sound to Gladys here – using fuller bass at the ... LP, Vinyl record album

All I Need Is Time
SOUL, 1973. Near Mint-
A nice set that follows the soft southern mode that Knight virtually invented in the early 70s – a style that almost takes the earlier achievements of Aretha Franklin, and redirects them to a hipper, more adult audience for the new decade – and sometimes a crossover one at that! Philadelphia International, 1980. Very Good+
Classic Jones Girls for Philly!
