Music To Remember Her

LP (Item 149246) Capitol, 1955 — Condition: Near Mint-
...

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Capitol, 1963. Near Mint-
Movie Themes For Lovers Only is a great one – a set that takes some of the best film themes of the early 60s, and turns them into great vehicles for that mellow Gleason sound – that warm mix of orchestrations and some very light jazz touches – heard here on solos from Charlie ... Music For Lovers Only
Capitol, 1953. Very Good+
Music for lovers – and some languid lovers at that – thanks to some perfect mellow moods set by Jackie Gleason! The set's one of Jackie's undisputed classics for Capitol Records in the 50s – perfect sounds to woo a winsome lass, made slightly sexier by some great trumpet solos by ... LP, Vinyl record album

Riff Jazz
Capitol, Mid 50s. Very Good+
We're not exactly sure what "riff jazz" is, but we can definitely say that the album's one of Jackie Gleason's jazziest from the 50s – a really hard-hitting affair that gets past the sleepier arrangements of other records, and makes great use of breakout solo work from Jimmy ... Capitol, Late 50s. Near Mint-
Jackie Gleason's soundtrack for "that moment" of love, lust, whatever. Like a lot of his stuff from this period, not totally spot-on for the specified act (at least we'd never try to make "that moment" happen with this stuff), but it's still pretty great lush orchestral stuff, ... Lonesome Echo
Capitol, Mid 50s. Very Good+
A fantastic album – if only for the cover! The record features a rare cover image that's an obscure painting by Salvador Dali – and the back cover features a photo of Jackie and Dali shaking hands! The music's not as surreal as the image, but it's still got this amazingly baroque ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sacred Idol
Capitol, 1960. Near Mint-
A real standout set from the end of Les Baxter's run at Capitol Records – originally scored for a film that was never released, but a great set of tracks that more than stands strongly on its own! Confetti
Capitol, 1958. Very Good+
A groovy Les Baxter album from the pre-exotica years – a set that showcases all the lively, jaunty styles that Les brought to his initial instrumental run on Capitol Records!
