Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Kenny Wheeler Quintet

Flutter By Butterfly
Soul Note, 1988. Used
Warmly expressive work from trumpeter Kenny Wheeler – a set that's got the same depth of tone as his work for other labels, but which has a bit of a different feel as well. The record has maybe a bit more bite – not necessarily on Wheeler's trumpet or flugelhorn, the latter of which ... CD

Charlie Haden & Paul Motian

Etudes
Soul Note (Italy), 1987. Used
Beautiful sounds from the team of bassist Charlie Haden and percussionist Paul Motian – a record that draws on their earlier experiments on the ECM label, but delivers a sound with a lot more bite! The real difference here is pianist Geri Allen – whose presence in the group really ... CD

Art Farmer

Manhattan
Soul Note (Italy), 1982. Used
Overlooked genius from Art Farmer – a less-remembered session from the early 80s, and one that features him in a hip quintet with the great Sahib Shihab! The feel here is as lyrical and laidback as some of Art's other work from the time, but the presence of Sahib on soprano and baritone ... CD

Andrew Hill

Shades
Soul Note (Italy), 1987. Used

Groove Merchant/Beast Retro, 1974. Used
Hard-swinging Buddy Rich from the prime early 70s years – not exactly an all-out funk affair, but still a great groover, with plenty of hip little big band numbers! The groove here is nice and lean – and Buddy and the group are working at Buddy's own club – hitting that trademark ... CD
Verve, 1989. Used
A lost late session by Stan Getz – and one of his greatest recordings of the 80s! The album's got the simple elegance of some of his best Verve work – with a group that features Stan on tenor, Kenny Barron on piano, George Mraz on bass, and Victor Lewis on drums. The combination of ... CD
