Later work from Booker T and crew – an album that always gets lost in the shuffle, but which also includes lots of great moments, and a bit more funk than in earlier years! The rhythm section's loosening up a bit on the set – led by the mighty Al Jackson, and working past that tight Memphis slam-dunk – into a freer, funkier vibe that was obviously influenced by the changes of the times. This is heard to best effect on the group's versions of tracks like "The Horse", "Sing A Simple Song", and "It's Your Thing" – but it also comes out nicely on their great reworkings of familiar numbers like "Light My Fire", "Mrs. Robinson", and "Lady Madonna". © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
