❔

Two fantastic sides by one of the most-overlooked groups in Chicago in the 60's. "Do The 45" is a hard stormin' northern soul cut, and "Make Up Your Mind" is a rolling harmony track, with good vocals, and a nice mellow swing to it.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Plays with some surface noise. Labels have some marker and an old price sticker.)

Very Good - (minus)

  • Vinyl may be dirty, and can lack a fair amount of luster.
  • Vinyl can have a number of marks, either in clusters or smaller amounts, but deeper.
  • This is the kind of record that you'd buy to play, but not because it looked that great. Still, the flaws should be mostly cosmetic, with nothing too deep that would ruin the overall record.
  • Examples include a record that has been kept for a while in a cover without the paper sleeve, or heavily played by a previous owner and has some marks across the surface. The record should play okay, though probably with surface noise.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Killer funk from one of the best-ever bands of the genre! "Cissy Strut" has some killer stone cold choppy guitars, with a sound that was imitated often, but never matched! "Here Comes" is a rolling organ-driven groove – bubbling along at a chunky funky pace! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Event, 1973. Near Mint-
A great funky instrumental, with lots of moog in it – a little like "Popcorn", but funkier! "Pinch Of Salt" is pretty nice too – uptempo and instrumental, with a nice dose of organ! 7-inch, Vinyl record

Funky DJ/Juke Box
Stone, 1976. Near Mint-
A very cool little single done by John Fred in the years after his famous Playboy Band pop – 2 tracks done in a slow-stepping style that's a lot like Miami funk of the 70s, but recorded in Fred's usual territory of Louisiana! "Funky DJ" is a hard clavinet number that features ... 7-inch, Vinyl record

A fantastic early single from Bobby Blue Bland – the kind of raspy work with a complicated edge that really set him apart from the rest! 7-inch, Vinyl record

One of Aretha's best! There's a massive old school break on the intro to "Rock Steady" – but even without that bit, the song's a real winner – ripping along with massive soulful grooves! 7-inch, Vinyl record
