En Puerto Rico – Virginia Lopez Y Su Trio Imperio Vol 5

LP (Item 140344) RCA, 1960s — Condition: Very Good
...

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Pablo Beltran Ruiz

El Baile Del Ano
RCA, Late 60s. Very Good+
Although Pablo Beltran Ruiz is better known for more traditional material, this groovy album from the 60s has him moving through a great batch of 60s pop and Latin tracks – and it's got a wonderful lively sound! The album kicks off with a great instrumental version of Joe Cuba's "El ... LP, Vinyl record album
RCA, Early 50s. Very Good+
Hard-hitting early work from Perez Prado – a record filled with angular touches that are a fair bit more modern than some of his later sides, and which mix crackling Latin rhythms with some of the best changes going on in jazz at the time! Tico/Charly (UK), Late 60s. Very Good+
An excellent set – a perfectly put-together collection of Joe's classic 60s Latin Soul sides for Tico, assembled by Dave Hucker for Charly Records in 1989. We can't think of a better way to get into Joe's music – and just about every track on the album's a stoner winner! Titles ... LP, Vinyl record album

Machito & His Afro Cuban Orchestra

Vacation At The Concord
Coral, 1958. Very Good+
A great document of the crossover between the New York Latin scene and the Catskills – the upstate resort community that was as important to the Latin groups as the uptown clubs! Like many groups of the period, Machito's found a heck of a lot of work in the Catskills during the 50s – ... LP, Vinyl record album
