Expo Som 73 – Ao Vivo

CD (Item 138237) Odeon/EMI (Brazil), 1973 — Condition: Used
$9.99 ...

CD

A great bossa and samba concert performance from the early 70s – one that features some of the up and coming talents recording for the Odeon label at the time! The feel here takes us back to some of the key live Brazilian concerts from the 60s – particularly the multi-artist bossa sessions on RGE – but there's also a style that's a bit more 70s overall, thanks to the use of electric piano on most numbers, which creates a sweetly gliding and warmly jazzy sound! Titles include "Confeti" and "Demais" by Marcia, "Quero Ver Todo Mundo Sambar" and "Me Deixa Em Paz" by Leny Andrade, "Nem Eu" and "Coqueiro De Itapoan/Joao Valentao" by Simone, and "Lei De Murici" and "A Filha Do Veloso" by Ari Vilela.  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Os 3 Morais

Os 3 Morais
EMI/Amazon (Brazil), 1971. Used
An incredible album – especially if you dig the groovier side of Brazil! Os 3 Morais fit nicely in a groove that runs between Som 3, Tamba Trio, Marcos Valle, and Antonio Adolfo & Brazuca – and they have a style that's a mix of the madder baroque arrangements of Valle and Adolfo, ... CD

Simone

Pedacos
EMI (Brazil), 1979. Used
Darkly brilliant work from Simone – a real standout singer in late 70s MPB, working here with a sound that draws heavily from the legacy of the post-Tropicalia scene! Simone's music has a really moody feel overall – arranged by Gilson Peranzzetta and Nelson Ayres with some gently jazzy ... CD

The first album by Marisa Monte, and the start of a fantastic run of records – really strong work that had Monte emerging as maybe one of the strongest new acts in Brazil at the time! The set is live, which is unusual for a debut – and that also makes for energy that's a bit more raw ... CD

Ooooooh! Norma
Odeon/EMI (Brazil), Mid 60s. Used
A loungey album of vocals from this obscure Brazilian vocalist – and very much what you'd expect from the sexy cover! Norma's an emotive singer, playfully working her way through a number of tracks in Portuguese, plus some American standards from the 50s and 60s – all set to a slightly ... CD
