This image is a general representation of the item and the actual product may differ slightly in terms of color shading, logo placement, borders, or other small details. Used items may have various cosmetic differences as well.
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Used CD Grade
We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs.
This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer
used CDs in the best possible condition.
When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the
lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves),
and the booklet to be in good shape.
Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or
defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs),
so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.
All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws.
After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine
that it plays correctly.
If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.
Billie Holiday's probably reimagined here more than she's remixed – as most of the tracks are heavy on contemporary beats and breaks first, and tend to focus on the vocals second! Billie's older recordings are dropped into the mix to provide a bit of older flavor – sometimes used quite ... CD
Some of the earliest Billie Holiday work for Verve Records – material recorded in a mid 40s Jazz At The Philharmonic session, already showing the great setting the label was able to allow! Billie's voice is wonderful – really coming into its own mature modes – and backing is by a ... CD
Tracks include "God Bless The Child", "Body And Soul", "Moanin' Low", "St. Louis Blues", "You Let Me Down", "Ghost Of Yesterday", and "Long Gone Blues" – 16 tracks total. CD
Possibly one of the most essential Billie Holiday albums for Verve – a set that carries the same title as her famous autobiography, and which also features many key numbers from her songbook at the time! The feel here is quite easygoing and relaxed – with small group backing behind ... CD
A super rare Decca album by vocalist Beverly Kenny – one of a few albums she cut for the label in the late 50s – and one of only a handful she ever cut at all! Beverly has a deep, sultry vocal style that recalls June Christy a bit, and the velvety toned Mel Torme in a way – and ... CD
Early work by Carmen McRae – and a wonderfully titled set that's certainly Torchy all the way through! Carmen's singing in a lush, romantic style – working with backings from Jack Pleis and Ralph Burns – in a mode that features larger orchestrations, but which still very much has ... CD
A 50s record that collects some pre-Verve material by Ella Fitzgerald – some with a small combo, and some with groups led by Eddie Heywood and Sy Oliver – plus one track with the Delta Rhythm Boys! CD
The Southern Style here is a great one – a small jazz combo approach to backings, with Jeri on piano, supported by just a bit of bass and drums! This sort of mellow, intimate album was rare for a singer of Southern's stature at the time – and Jeri takes keen advantage of it in her ... CD
Something of a concept album from Jeri Southern – a record of familiar tunes, but all strung together as "the story of a love affair", and set to backings by Gus Levene! The approach here is a bit like some of the Sinatra Capitol sides of the mid 50s – with a really unified ... CD
A wonderful lost gem from Ella Fitzgerald – very much in the mellow mood hinted at in the title, with only the piano of Ellis Larkins to back her up! The sound is incredible – and even very different than any of the work she recorded at Verve – with a moody, evocative quality ... CD
