This image is a general representation of the item and the actual product may differ slightly in terms of color shading, logo placement, borders, or other small details. Used items may have various cosmetic differences as well.
Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so.
These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play,
but might detract from the looks.
May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be
intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under
the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record.
(Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
Possible minor surface noise when played.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
A killer set of grooves from vibes legend Johnny Lytle – one of the first and one of the few to ever combine vibes with Hammond organ – in this case, the work of Milt Harris on the keys! The group is a very rhythmic trio, thanks to Harris on the bass pedals, and Penny Hinant on the ... LP, Vinyl record album
A real killer from Hammond hero Charles Earland – a record that stretches out as much as his studio gems for Prestige, but in a slightly different way! The band includes lesser known players like trumpeter Elmer Coles, alto player James Vass, and conga player Kenneth Nash – but they ... LP, Vinyl record album
Twin organs back to back – and a heck of a hard-wailing set from Groove Holmes and Jimmy McGriff! The album cooks from the very first note – and features long tunes that open up with the same sort of solo-heavy approach that you'd get on Holmes' Prestige albums of the 60s – very ... An unusual session from the great Clare Fischer – although probably his best-known record as well! Clare cut many other jazz sides in a smaller, more intimate setting – but this album features his full talents as a larger arranger – working with a hip ensemble, and turning in ... Lennie swings, but he keeps it cool too – as this rare Mercury set steps off of the same octet energy Niehaus brought to his better-known sides for Contemporary in the mid 50s! The players here are a bit lesser known than some of Niehaus' other all-star groups – with Ken Shroyer on ... LP, Vinyl record album
Hey, these guys are mad! Not really, though, but the "angry" in the title refers to the fact that these are early recordings by the players – mostly done during the 78rpm years at Savoy, when all of them were getting their start in small group sessions. Webster plays with Oscar ... LP, Vinyl record album
We can't decide whether we like Bird better in the small seminal bop quintets he led, or blowing fiery solos over larger arrangements buoyed by strings. Fortunately these sets, compiled from 10" LPs bring together some of both, though as you might guess from the title, they do lean heavily ... LP, Vinyl record album
A really great step forward for Barbara Mason – a record that's got her working in a more mature mode than before, and a deeper soul style as well! One of the bigger developments of Barbara Mason's career was her participation in the "answer song" cycle that circulated around ... LP, Vinyl record album
Mellow soul, sweeping strings, and sweet electric keys – a stone 70s classic from Norman Feels – one of the greatest soul singers you've never heard before! The album's Norman's first (of two), and is a vastly under-recognized gem – the kind of record that easily stands next to ... LP, Vinyl record album
