We have to admit we've always been somewhat dismissive of Merl Saunders 70s records, perhaps because of the hippy association we have with these bay area recordings. But ultimately there's at least a little bit of funk peeking through on any of his Fantasy recordings, which gets a nice helping hand on this one from producer David Axelrod. Saunders plays organ, clavinet, electric piano and vocals for these eight tracks and is joined by Bill Upchurch on bass, Martin Fierro on soprano sax, Jimmy Nelson on drums, John Kahn on bass, Billy Fender on guitar, and King Erisson on congas to name a few. 8 tracks in all, including "Aunt Monk", "Wondering Why", "Bolinas Brown", "It's Cheaper To Keep her", "Easy Evil", "Ain't No Woman LikeThe One I've Got", "When I Die" and "Righteousness". Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.
The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
