Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Verve (Japan), 1966. Used Gatefold
A stone classic on Verve! Back in the 60s, Wes Montgomery must have been California Dreamin – because by the time of this LP, he'd come a long way from his Indiana roots – and had used the best part of the hip west coast scene to add a lot to his style – fuller rhythms and ... CD
Venus (Japan), 2001. Used
Beautiful ballads from Archie Shepp – one of his later dates for Venus Records, recorded with a soulful, subtle sound that's totally great! The Shepp heard here is hardly the freewheeling player of 60s avant years – and is instead an aging master of the tenor who manages to draw on ... CD

John Lewis Piano
Atlantic (Japan), 1957. Used
One of the strongest sessions recorded by pianist John Lewis in the 50s – a date that shows depths of his talents that run even greater than his work with the Modern Jazz Quartet, quite possibly because is work on piano is at the forefront of the record throughout! There's a sense of ... CD
Soul Note (Italy), 1989. Used
A live concert performance with a great Mingus-inspired group that includes David Murray and Clifford Jordan on tenors, John Handy on alto, Randy Brecker and Jon Faddis on trumpets, Jimmy Knepper on trombone, and Jaki Byard on piano! Tracks are quite long – and very much in the Mingus ... CD

Jeri Southern

Southern Style
Decca/Universal (Japan), 1955. Used
The Southern Style here is a great one – a small jazz combo approach to backings, with Jeri on piano, supported by just a bit of bass and drums! This sort of mellow, intimate album was rare for a singer of Southern's stature at the time – and Jeri takes keen advantage of it in her ... CD

Revivendo (Brazil), 1930s/1940s. Used
A cool snapshot of a much earlier era in Brazilian music – directly inspired by the sounds coming out of the US in the late 20s and 30s and the kind of music popularized in Hollywood movies like The Jazz Singer or Broadway Melody. Includes 21 tracks by Nelson Goncalves, Orlando Silva, ... CD
