Open Up Your Love

LP (Item 12539) Soul Train, 1977 — Condition: Very Good+
The Whispers are really riding high on the Soul Train here – perfectly set up with production help from the team of Don Cornelius and Dick Griffey – who really help the group make the best of their harmonies, both on mellow cuts and upbeat groovers! The latter cuts are what The Whispers are sometimes remembered most for at this time in their career – but we really love the more laidback cuts too – as they seem to have an even more magical approach, with this floating style that really does wonders for the vocals. Titles include "Open Up Your Love", "You Are Number One", "I'm Gonna Make You My Wife", "Love Is A Dream", "I Fell In Love Last Night", and "Chocolate Girl".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has light wear, but looks great overall.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

One of their best LPs from the early 70's, back when they were less uptempo, and still focusing on good group harmony cuts that had more of a traditional mix of ballads and midtempo tracks. Monk Higgins

Heavyweight
United Artists, 1972. Very Good+
Quite possibly the best album ever from funky maestro Monk Higgins! A legendary funk set from late 70s Chicago – served up by our own Captain Sky, aka Daryl Cameron – an imposing figure who often worked in the same space-themed territory as the P-Funk empire in the mid 70s! Theme From The Silencers
Diplomat, Mid 1960s. Very Good+
A knockoff group – like a lot of the stuff on Diplomat – but they're pretty swingin' nonetheless, and lay down nice versions of the spy themes "The Silencers" and "Our Man Flint". The album's short – and more like an e.p. – but the keyboards are pretty ... LP, Vinyl record album
