Ataulfo Alves E Seus Sucessos

LP (Item 12222) Philips (Brazil), Mid 60s — Condition: Very Good+

A lively batch of pop samba stuff from this big Brazilian artist of the 60's. The tracks are all fairly uptempo, with a sing song rhythm sound, and a nice 60's Brazilian pop groove. Tracks include "Leva Meu Samba", "Saudade Dela", "Sai Do Meu Caminho", "Vida De Minha Vida", "Mulata Assahda", and "Meus Tempos De Crianca". Nice original pressing, too.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Later Serie Reminiscencias pressing on Sinter.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Rizo was one of many American Latin pianists who tried to cash in on the bossa craze in the early 60s – but like so many others, his style is much more steeped in Latin playing, with a much heavier sound than some of the Brazilian keyboardists who were the true geniuses of bossa.
