Tanbou Toujou Lou – Meringue, Kompa Kreyol, Vodou Jazz, & Electric Folklore From Haiti 1960 to 1981
LP (Item 121986) Ostinato (UK), 1960s/1970s — Condition: Near Mint-
Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so.
These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play,
but might detract from the looks.
May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be
intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under
the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record.
(Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
Possible minor surface noise when played.
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
There's no waiting for Zion here – as A08 deliver the goods right from the start – a very righteous blend of reggae, West African, and other styles – but all served up with a lean approach that takes the influences very far past their roots! The group were previously known as ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the coolest Turkish singers we've heard so far from the 70s – an artist who's maybe a bit more funky and a bit less fuzzy than some of her contemporaries – blessed with a heavenly vocal style that's often set to these very groovy arrangements! The language is beyond the reach of ... LP, Vinyl record album
One of the rarer Ethiopian recordings we've heard from the 70s – and one of the most compelling, too! The sounds here are just as haunting as more familiar Ethiopian music, but also have a nicely unbridled feel too – almost a bit rough at times, especially in the way the rhythms unfurl ... The group's second album for Jive, and a batch of 80s African tracks that have a surprisingly jazzy edge to them. The sound here is quite different from the Celluloid approach to New African grooves – a bit more soulful and standard, but with strong use of instruments in a fusiony way, one ...
