A sublime easy classic by The Mystic Moods – who by this time had transformed from a simple "sound effects plus easy listening" group into a sexy electric LA combo. This is one of their first albums for Warner, recorded with a nice sly slightly-funky sound – and it's a captivating batch of sexy easy tracks that have a nice groove bubbling underneath. Cuts include "Electric Music and The Summer People", "Reason For Staying", "My Love, My Life", and "Crystal Morning". Lots of watery sound effects too! (Cover has some splitting at the bottom of the spine.)  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Reprise, Late 60s. Very Good+
This one's got a hokey title and cover – but it's a great batch of groovy 60s grooves! The album's supposed to feature songs from old-timey radio shows of the 30s and 40s, but Jimmy Bowen re-casts the songs (with the help of Ernie Freeman) into these campy 60s tunes, almost like a Laugh-In ... Capitol, Early 60s. Very Good
One of the best albums by Tak Shindo – a west coast Japanese composer/arranger who was one of the few exotica artists to actually have the cultural cred to the sound! Soul Of The Drums
Reprise, Early 60s. Very Good
One of the rarest of all Les Baxter albums – and one of the best! The record was cut after Les' early 60s move to Reprise – but it's still very much in the vein of his Capitol exotic work, which is more than we can say for some of his other Reprise sessions.
