Solo album of mellow vocals by this ex-lead singer of the Ravens known for his deep sultry voice. Jimmy's in fine form, and the arrangements by Don Sebesky give him a nice uptown pop soul sound, with the sort of sophisticated backings that let his voice run at a good pace. Tracks include "Girl of My Dreams", "Teach Me Tonight", "It's A Good Day", "If I Didn't Care", and "I Get The Blues When It Rains".  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Columbia, 1956. Very Good-
Fantastic stuff, and proof that Rosemary Clooney was always one heck of a great singer – with strengths in jazz that you didn't always hear in her pop work! Liberty, 1956. Very Good- Gatefold
One of Julie London's wildest albums – and one of her sexiest too! The record has Julie running through the calender – singing a song a month, dedicated to January, February, March, and so on – a really great concept for a record like this, in ways that set the album apart from ... It's always something nice when Etta Jones makes a record – but this one is especially so, thanks to some intimate small group backing from players who include Oliver Nelson, Lem Winchester, Wally Richardson, and Richard Wyands! Foxy Lady
De-Lite, 1975. Very Good+
Not a bad little album from Crown Heights Affair – pretty disco in parts, but also essentially more of an uptempo soul record, with that strident east coast groove. Includes disco and regular versions of "Dreaming A Dream", plus "Foxy Lady", "You Smiled", "P ... LP, Vinyl record album
