Of Human Feelings

LP (Item 11761) Antilles, 1982 — Condition: Very Good

Early Prime Time stuff by Ornette, with the harmelodic sound electric sound of the group that included Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Bern Nix, and Charlie Ellerbee. Lots of popping guitar strings, jumping basslines, and rambling solos by Ornette. Tracks include "Jump Street", "Sleep Talk", "Air Ship", "What Is The Name Of That Song?", and "Job Mob". Very early eighties, very downtown scene.  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has light wear.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

IRI (France), 1966. Near Mint-
Excellent work from Ornette – recorded in Paris in 1966 for the film Who's Crazy, and issued here in a 1979 pressing by IRI, which we think was the first-ever vinyl issue of the material. Ornette's on alto, violin, and trumpet – and the tracks have a wonderfully playful feel, plus some ... LP, Vinyl record album

An essential session from the Threadgill/Hopkins/McCall trio from Chicago. Jazz Gunn
Atlantic, 1967. Near Mint-
Shelly Manne scored big with a jazz version of the Peter Gunn soundtrack in the 50s – and he does it again in this 60s version of Henry Mancini's music for the full-length Gunn movie! New York City R&B
Candid, 1961. Near Mint-
An early 60s session by Cecil Taylor for Candid, and a record that's one of our favorites by him from the early years! Despite the seemingly odd use of the term "R&B" in the title, the record's actually got a sound that's a bit more soulful than usual for Cecil, with surprising use ... LP, Vinyl record album

Despite the fact that most of these guys participated in some of the best funky fusion records coming out of the 70s west coast scene, this record's not what it should be – especially when you consider it's got players like George Bohannon, Ernie Watts, and Oscar Brashear.
