Just One Moment

LP (Item 117606) First Edition (UK), Early 80s — Condition: Near Mint-
...

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Jimmy Cliff & Others

Harder They Come
Island, 1972. Near Mint- Gatefold
A record that's not only a landmark in Jamaican music – but also a set that was to reggae what Curtis Mayfield's Superfly was to 70s soul! In other words, the set not only raised the bar for all the competition, it also ended up in a lot more record collections than most of them too – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Toots & The Maytals

Funky Kingston (Island version)
Island/Mango, 1971. Near Mint-
The second album from Toots & The Maytals to bear the title Funky Kingston – and a set that's arguably even more classic than the first – as it takes the best tunes from that set, then adds in some killers from other records too – all wrapped up in an Island Records package ... Toots & The Maytals

Just Like That
Mango, 1980. Near Mint-
It's the early 80s, but Toots Hibbert still has lots of older rocksteady modes in his music – maybe warmed up a bit by some of the wider reach that was allowed by the Island Records placement of albums like this! Yet despite any temptation to make things sound a bit more crossover, the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Bob Marley

African Herbsman
Trojan (UK), 1973. Very Good+
Great early work by Bob Marley & The Wailers – some of it produced by the legendary Lee Perry, too! Some of the tunes are early takes on later famous versions – but in a way, they're actually more definitive – in that they tie Marley back to the rich Kingston culture, instead ... Peter Tosh

Mama Africa
EMI, 1983. Near Mint-
One of the most righteous albums ever recorded by Peter Tosh – as you might guess from the title and cover! Tosh could be great on other themes – but this set has him picking up even more politics than usual – maybe a bit late in the roots game, but able to find a way to bring ... LP, Vinyl record album

Eddie Harris

Bossa Nova
Vee Jay, Early 60s. Sealed
Very nice, very tight little bossa nova set by Eddie Harris from his early days at Vee Jay! The groove is very open, and Eddie's still at the stage where he can really cut the stuff. His solos ring out hard and cold above some great Lalo Schifrin arrangements, and Lalo also plays piano on the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Eugene Record

Eugene Record
Warner, 1977. Very Good
A great solo moment from Eugene Record – the singer who'd rose to fame with The Chi-Lites, and who still sounds pretty darn great here on his own! The album follows strongly from the best late styles of Record's previous group – and the tunes are a mix of ballads that Eugene could ... LP, Vinyl record album
