Blue Bird – Legendary Savoy Sessions

CD (Item 117150) American Jazz Classics (Spain), Mid 40s — Condition: Used
$9.99 ...

CD

The second half of Charlie Parker's legendary early work for Savoy Records – the complete master takes of all his recordings with a young Miles Davis! The work on the set spans the years 1945 to 1948, and features some of the ultimate early Bird 78 rpm singles – made even better by the presence of Davis as a sideman. Other players on the sessions include Max Roach, Bud Powell, Duke Jordan, John Lewis, and Dizzy Gillespie – and titles include "Billie's Bounce", "Now's The Time", "Donna Lee", "Buzzy", "Milestones", "Sippin At Bells", "Blue Bird", "Barbados", "Constellation", "Parker's Mood", and "Ah Leu Cha".  © 1996-2022, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We have only one grade for non-new CDs at Dusty Groove — "Used CD". This grade is somewhat all-encompassing, but we choose it because we try to offer Used CDs in the best shape possible.

When you purchase a Used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use but if there are significant details or defects we will list them underneath the item — just like we do with LPs — so look there for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details.

All of our Used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. If you purchase a Used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly — and if it does not, then you may return it for a full refund.

Diz & Getz (with bonus tracks)
Verve/American Jazz Classics, Early 50s. Used
Nicely grooving material – with tracks that are a bit shorter than the usual Verve "celebrity meets celebrity" set, but which are no less well-played. Dizzy is always fantastic in this sort of loosely-crafted setting – and Getz's playing here is nicely relaxed, with more open- ... CD

A great Crusaders album – and one that's a perfect bridge between their earlier soul jazz styles, and their tighter funkier electric one. Jazz West/Blue Note, 1956. Used
Key early work from trumpeter Jack Sheldon – a set that captures his talents at their most basic and most stripped-down – very much in the spirit of the best LA jazz coming out on the Pacific Jazz label at the time! If the cover makes the set look a bit like a Chet Baker album, that's ... CD
