Marvin Gaye — Let's Get It On (180 gram pressing) ... LP 27.99
An amazing record that stunned the world almost as much as Marvin's previous effort, What's Going On. Like that one, this album's an amazingly unified batch of tracks – with a visionary message about sex and love that is as honest and bracing as the politics and social commentary of his previous record. The record shows a sexy side of Marvin that would stun fans of his 60s work – very adult, very warm, and very preoccupied with desire and love. In a way, this sort of full-on love fest was a big payoff for all the folks who'd hung onto his simpler expressions of affection in the earlier years – sort of like getting let into the bedroom after spending years on the front porch! The record was produced by both Marvin and Ed Townsend – and the arrangements by David Van DePitte, Rene Hall, and Gene Page are smooth and seductive all the way through. Includes slow jam classics like "You Sure Love To Ball", "Distant Lover", and "Let's Get It On" – plus "Come Get To This", "Just to Keep You Satisfied", and "If I Should Die Tonight".  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Original gatefold pressing. Cover has light wear.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Kind of an ultimate Marvin Gaye hits compilation – issued in 1970, with one of the most badass Motown covers of the time! Motown, 1977. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
This is the second of two live albums that Marvin Gaye cut during the 70s – and in many ways, it's the better one! Diana Ross & The Supremes

Motown, 1960s. Very Good+
It's the third volume, but there's still plenty of hits left – thanks to the legendary 60s run of Diana Ross & The Supremes at Motown! Arrangers include Henry Cosby, Paul Riser, and Wade Marcus – and most of the tracks are from the later years of the original trio – with ... LP, Vinyl record album

Thelma Houston

Devil In Me
Motown, 1977. Very Good+
Thelma's one of those singers who must have been waiting years for disco to come around and help her find a reason to sing! Her career was slightly ill-timed in the beginning, coming along with a baroque soul beginning that was great, yet somewhat out of place in the early 70s. But enter a record ... The Four Tops weren't the first of the Motown groups to get the broadway treatment, but they do a pretty nice job with it! Motown, 1979. Very Good+
3rd album of futuristic soul from Mandre, with a bit less of the Dexter Wansel influenced sound we love so much about the first album, and more of the bass heavy sound that would predominate in the 80s, as well as a good bit of synthesized sounds and slick production flourishes, even a bit of ...
