Sealed
This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap.
We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't
look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time,
we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape —
which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be
torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played,
the record will still qualify as "Sealed".
Additional Marks & Notes
If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially
if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip,
cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.
Joe Bataan is alive and well – and to our ears, the king of Latin Soul is sounding better than he has in decades! This tasty little set really takes us back to Joe's classic work for Fania – but it's also got a slightly different twist – one that shows a new younger appreciation ... LP, Vinyl record album
An incredible album of Latin Funk – recorded in Peru during the early 70s, but right up there with the best from New York and LA at the time! The record has a fantastic style that blends together electric instrumentation, acoustic percussion, and some sweetly soulful lyrics – in ... LP, Vinyl record album
Great arrangements by Charlie Palmieri and Joe Cain – and titles that include "Buscar", "Acompaname", "Vive La Realidad", "Seguire Mi Viaje", "Una Mentira Piadosa", and "Cuando Te Fuiste De Mi". LP, Vinyl record album
Features Reina, Sergo Quijano, and Joe on vocals – on titles that include "Manatial Del Corazon", "En Mi Viejo San Juan", "Para Usted", "Bailando", and a nice version of "I Just Called to Say I Love You". LP, Vinyl record album
Nice stuff from Willie – maybe not as hard and funky as his early 70s work, but very nice in kind of a Latin Club mode, thanks to some great production by Wayne Henderson! Includes his classic take on "Always There" – which is a great dancefloor jazz jammer – plus ... LP, Vinyl record album
Donald Byrd in a sweet electric mode – as you'd guess from the title! The set was recorded right before Byrd's legendary run with Larry Mizell in the early 70s – and the electric approach is a bit different here – a style that blends Byrd's wonderful trumpet lines with the larger ... LP, Vinyl record album
A great little album from Roy Ayers – a very funky record that's almost all instrumental all the way through! The sound is a bit in the vein of Roy's Live At Montreux set – but funkier overall, thanks to some very heavy rhythms on the bottom – and an approach to the tunes that's ... LP, Vinyl record album
