Good-Feeling Music Of The Big Chill Generation Vol 4

LP (Item 114121) Motown, 1960s/1985 — Condition: Near Mint-
Includes selections by Mary Wells, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, The Temptations, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Three Dog Night, and Four Tops.  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has light wear and a cutout notch.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Motown, 1969. Near Mint-
Groovy late 60s work from Diana Ross & The Supremes – a record that has them breaking the Motown mold a bit, and hooking up with a nice variety of modder soul and pop modes! Diana Ross & The Supremes with The Temptations

TCB
Motown, 1968. Very Good+
One of the odder 60s LPs from the Supremes, the soundtrack to a film that starred the group, with some guest appearances by The Temptations – in Motown-show versions of tracks that often feature the singers lapsing into medleys of other tunes, or doing some popular hits of the day. Marvin Gaye & Diana Ross

Diana & Marvin
Motown, 1973. Very Good+ Gatefold
A surprisingly nice album – even if you're not a fan of Diana Ross! Given that Marvin and Diana are standing back to back on the front cover, we kind of get the idea that there wasn't as much sympathy in the session as on some of Marvin's classic duet sides from the 60s with Tammi Terrell ... A well-timed Greatest Hits set for The Commodores – released in 1978 and capturing the group at their best early prime! Motown, 1970s. Very Good+
A nice collection of some Diana's great early 70s work for Motown, when she really stepped out and established herself as one of the finest soul singers of the decade. 10 tracks in all: "Touch Me In The Morning", "Love Hangover", "Last Time I Saw Him", "I ... LP, Vinyl record album
Motown, 1978. Near Mint-
What could they have been thinking? Motown sure must have had a lot of cash to throw around at this point – recording an album like this, which features soul versions of TV themes, most of them in the funky 70s mode. Arrangements are by Harold Johnson, Art Wright, and Kim Richmond – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Soulful Strings

Paint It Black
Cadet, 1966. Near Mint-
One of the better albums by this great Chicago soul studio group – but all of them are pretty nice! The great Richard Evans is still at the head of The Strings, and the album features solo work by Charles Stepney and Lennie Druss, in a cool breezy Chess/Cadet soul jazz kind of mode. The ... Oliver Cheatham sounds wonderful here – in that best bouncy style that made him a big favorite on the dancefloors in the early 80s – a groove that's still pretty darn great all these years later!
