❔

Smooth mellow grooves, in the style that Eddie pioneered, and which he still did better than most. The album's a great batch of tracks with production by Leonard Caston, who also produced some of Eddie's earlier works, and the set's pretty darn great all the way through. With the cuts "Something Shady", "You Got It", "Intimate Friends", "Diamond Girl", and "California Woman".  © 1996-2022, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Original pressing, still sealed with a cutout notch. Shrinkwrap is torn a bit above the cutout.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Arista, 1978. Very Good+
Eddie Kendricks, vintage 1978 – and still very much in the great grooving mode he brought to his earlier solo material for Motown! Something More
Arista, 1979. Near Mint-
A stunner of a solo album from Eddie Kendricks – a set that has the singer stepping quite far from Motown, and working with east coast indie soul wizard Patrick Adams – a genius on both the albums groovers and ballads! Motown, 1973. Near Mint-
Fully mature work from Diana Ross – a set that really breaks free from the styles of her roots, and which has her emerging as a full-formed solo act on her own! Bonnie Pointer (1978)
Motown, 1978. Near Mint-
A great Motown set from the 70s – a record that grooves with the new styles the label was exploring at the time, yet still has a rock-solid quality that links back to its 60s heritage too!
