Spanish Blues Band

LP (Item 11105) Verve, Late 60s — Condition: Very Good+
Forget the "blues" in the title – this is another one of Willie Bobo's groovy Latin soul albums for Verve, with a good set of New York soul arrangements by Bert Keyes, Bert DeCoteaux, and Sonny Henry. Willie does a number of soul covers, like "Bad Bad Whiskey", "Walk Away Renee", "Dock Of The Bay", plus a number of groovy originals, like "Stuff", "Move On Over", and "Soul Cookin". Groovy sound, like his other Verve LPs, and a record that's pretty tough to find!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A great little record – a heck of a lot nicer than Tito's work in the 50s, with a much more hard driving mambo sound, touched by a bit of jazz. The style here's not dissimilar to Tito Puente's work at the time – and titles include "Ay No No No", "A Little Bit Of ... LP, Vinyl record album

The start of funky funky Herbie Hancock!
