Sly & The Family Stone Greatest Hits

LP (Item 10955) Epic, 1970 — Condition: Very Good
Gatefold

Almost a "greatest hits" of greatest hits albums – one of those collections that almost sold more copies than all the full albums by the artist – forever earning Sly & The Family Stone a place in record collections around the globe! All the hits are here, laid out back to back in all their righteous goodness – never a single spot of filler, and all-classics, all the way through! Titles include "Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin", "Life", "Everyday People", "I Want To Take You Higher", "Everybody Is A Star", "Dance To The Music", "Hot Fun In The Summertime", and "Sing A Simple Song". All funky – all classic!  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Yellow label pressing. Cover has light wear.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Epic, 1979. Near Mint- 3LPs
An odd little album in which Sly's classic funky tunes are remixed and extended by John Luongo – ostensibly for play on the dancefloors of the late 70s. Unlike recent remix projects, this one keeps most of the original song intact, and the real changes are in added rhythmic elements – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Stand!
Epic, 1968. Very Good+ Gatefold
Hard to find a stronger early album by Sly – as this one has him still funking hard, but also getting his soul bag together a bit more, hitting some really righteous vibes that mix together politics and partying in an incredibly seductive way. Back On The Right Track
Warner, 1979. Sealed
Sly Stone's definitely back on the right track here – returning to the heights of his earlier powers in this late 70s comeback album for Warner Brothers! Mother Factor
Epic, 1978. Very Good
One of the funkiest sets ever from Mother's Finest, and maybe our favorite album from the group's late 70s run on Epic Records! A stunning solo effort – Teena's second on Epic, and proof that she could still put out the goods on her own! Epic, 1981. Near Mint-
A jazzy soul masterpiece from Webster Lewis – light years away from the rougher funk he cut at the start of the 70s!
