Amazing! Gilberto Gil's best work has always been ignored by reissue programs for years – but now, this amazing 10 CD box set brings back all of his best recordings from the years 1967 to 1977, including a huge amount of stuff that's never been on CD before! The set's made up of 10 CDs, loosely based around specific Gil albums, and they've all got additional bonus cuts (and one CD is even a double set – and there's another bonus CD single!) There's 6 past albums by Gil – plus 4 more full albums that were never released – and a lot of other material recorded during the same time. Unlike other sets of this type, each CD is jam-packed with great stuff – including long-out of print albums, and rare B-sides and demo versions! Some CDs are also double CDs (making the set a 12 CD set actually), the book contains a bonus CD, the music is amazing, and the box must be seen to be believed – as it also comes with a totally cool hardcover book that's filled with great photos, and great overall packaging in the whole set. We know it's quite expensive, but if you've ever liked Gilberto Gil's work, this set is a must. And if you don't know his stuff – you can't get anything better than this! A treasure!  © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Used CD Grade

We only use the grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs. This all-encompassing grade was chosen it because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we will describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

An ambitious set from Gilberto Gil – and a record that's almost a return to some of the sounds of his roots! Production is by Liminha, and there's still plenty of electric instrumentation on the set – but the overall sound is also more laidback and open, with lots of nice acoustic ... CD

Bossa Nova – Original Soundtrack
Polygram (Brazil), 2000. Used
Kind of a painful movie, but a pretty sweet soundtrack! The set features a number of new works produced by Deodato, very much in the spirit of his Inutil Paisagem 60s bossa recordings – with wonderfully complex airy melodies, and a touch so light you can't believe there's actually a ... CD
