❔

A familiar record – but a fantastic one! You probably all know the famous theme to "Mission Impossible" – Lalo Schfrin's beautiful jazzy number, with three piano notes revolving over and over again with incredible intensity – and the rest of the record is every bit as great, filled with a wonderful mix of groovy styles! The groove ranges from fast bossa to groovy 60s crime jazz to sparer tenser numbers that still manage to move nicely – and listening to the record over the years, our ears are always happily surprised at the level of genius that was allowed expression in the guise of a normal TV soundtrack. Cuts include "Jim On The Move", "The Plot", "The Sniper", "Danger", and "Barney Does It All".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Stereo pressing. Cover has some ring & edge wear.)

Very Good

  • Vinyl can have some dirt, but nothing major.
  • May not shine under light, but should still be pretty clean, and not too dirty.
  • May have a number of marks (5 to 10 at most), and obvious signs of play, but never a big cluster of them, or any major mark that would be very deep. Most marks should still not click under a fingernail.
  • May not look near perfect, but should play fairly well, with slight surface noise, and the occasional click in part of a song, but never throughout a whole song or more.
  • This is clearly a copy that was played by someone a number of times, but which could also be a good "play copy" for someone new.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Colpix, 1965. Very Good
Not a surf record – but a wonderful batch of groovy groovy jazz! Lalo penned this score for a Bruce Brown-like surfing documentary in the mid 60s – but instead of the usual guitar riffing and bongo drumming on such a score, he used a lot of jagged jazzy lines – working in a bit ... A pretty tense score – especially for Lalo Schifrin, who we normally know for his groovier soundtracks! A work of true genius – and one of Hefti's most amazing soundtracks ever! Dot, Late 60s. Sealed
Although Manos Hadjidakis' soundtrack work of the 60s is mostly in the Greek-sounding mode, this one features him hitting a bit of a western soundtrack feel – to back a drama starring Terence Stamp, Ricardo Montalban, and Karl Malden.
