LP, Vinyl record album

5.00 2

A real classic – one of Tania Maria's greatest American albums, and a sublime blend of styles that shows that her move to the US was not in vein! The group's an easy going west coast Latin ensemble with Eddie Duran on guitar, and the style is a breezy Brazilian one – perfectly situated on the bay shores of the Concord scene, with a nice modern grooving style. Includes the classic "Come With Me", plus "Lost In Amazonia", "Sangria", "Nega", and "Sementes, Graines & Seeds". (Cover has a cutout hole.)  © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Concord/Picante, 1985. Near Mint-
Wild is hardly a word we'd use to describe Tania Maria – mostly because we love her smooth jazzy approach to Brazilian material, one that's been honed to a "T" by this point, but never dampened in enthusiasm and honesty. The set's a great one with a strong acoustic group – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Concord/Picante, 1982. Very Good+
One of Tania Maria's sweet early LPs for Concord, with a nice modern Brazilian groove that differs from her earlier bossa LPs from the 70's, but which still has a beautiful melodic fusion feel to it. Tania plays piano and keyboards, and she's joined by a smooth Bay Area ensemble that includes ... LP, Vinyl record album

Philips, Mid 60s. Very Good
Very groovy organ bossa and samba tracks – recorded early on by Wanderley in Brasil, but released later in the U.S. to cash in on his success on Verve! Some of the first recordings done by Baden Powell outside of Brazil – and already an indication that his work with the European scene was a very good thing! The first (and maybe only) American release by one of the greatest Brazilian singer/songwriters of the sixties – and a record that's quite different than any Sergio Mendes work of the time, despite Sergio's name in the title! Muse, 1973. Near Mint-
The legendary meeting of the two biggest Brazilian keyboard talents of the 70s – Joao Donato and Eumir Deodato – coming together in beautifully funky formation! One of the moodiest Verve albums from Astrud Gilberto – a set that has some surprising arrangements by Gil Evans – working here on one of his few 60s dates with a singer!
