Come With Me

LP, Vinyl record album

A real classic – one of Tania Maria's greatest American albums, and a sublime blend of styles that shows that her move to the US was not in vein! The group's an easy going west coast Latin ensemble with Eddie Duran on guitar, and the style is a breezy Brazilian one – perfectly situated on the bay shores of the Concord scene, with a nice modern grooving style. Includes the classic "Come With Me", plus "Lost In Amazonia", "Sangria", "Nega", and "Sementes, Graines & Seeds".  © 1996-2017, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Barclay (France), 1975. Very Good+
Sublime work from our favorite time in Tania Maria's career – the time she spent in Paris, where she learned to weave her bossa jazz style with lightly breezy influences from European jazz! Fender Rhodes make up a bit part of the grooves here – as Tania plays both electric and acoustic ... LP, Vinyl record album

EMI (Italy), 1975. Very Good+
One of the greatest bossa jazz albums of the 70s – and recorded by an Italian group, no less! The album's the first standout classic from percussionist Mandrake – recorded with a tight little combo that includes guitar, piano, bass, and some extra-nice tenor sax! The tenor really ... Fantastic! This LP contains some amazing stuff that was recording by Moacir Santos in the late 60's, plus 3 tracks with the same feel recorded in 1978. Wild stuff that mixes jazz with off-kilter arrangements, and weird moody vocals. Very hard to describe, but extremely beautiful, and far and ... LP, Vinyl record album

Odeon (Brazil), 1970. Near Mint-
A pretty cool record from singer Taiguara – an artist who normally worked in more romantic pop formats in Brazil, but who here has caught a bit of the groovy sound that was showing up on some of the excellent Odeon albums at the time. Part of this is thanks to Gaya, who handled the ... LP, Vinyl record album

Wild is hardly a word we'd use to describe Tania Maria – mostly because we love her smooth jazzy approach to Brazilian material, one that's been honed to a "T" by this point, but never dampened in enthusiasm and honesty. The set's a great one with a strong acoustic group – ... LP, Vinyl record album

A beautiful album of jazzy vocal tracks with a definite bossa feel, recorded by the group O Quarteto – a harmony group whose style is very reminiscent of earlier Brazilian ones – like Os Cariocas and The Tamba Trio! Fantastic 70s material by this unique Brazilian combo! The sound is perhaps a bit less funky than some of their other records, but the songwriting is excellent, and the production is top notch – in a way that opens up the voices and gives the record a lot more soul than usual. Moody 2LP set of piano solos by Hermeto, all played on an acoustic piano, with a very spare dark sound, and a style that's quite "out" at times. Nice somber stuff, and a very different record than usual! Titles include "Bebe", "Nene", "E Sao Paulo", "Am ... LP, Vinyl record album
