Man Could Get Killed

LP (Item 10340) Decca, Mid 60s — Condition: Sealed

Peppy Bert Kaempfert score to this cloak n dagger film from the mid 60's. The cuts are mostly short, and with the underlying bass feel of his popular compositions. Tracks include "Tape Sandwich", "Bi-Naveled", and "Beddoes Shadows". Also includes the original "Strangers in the Night".  © 1996-2019, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Cover has staple holes in one corner.)

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

A mostly dramatic score to this mid 50s film that starred Alan Ladd & Sophia Loren – written by Friedhofer, and peformed here by Lionel Newman and the 20th Century Fox Orchestra. Despite the colonialist overtones of the project – sort of the African equivalent to Porgy & Bess, at least in terms of authenticity – this groundbreaking musical was actually a crucial moment in the development of South African jazz. Decca, Early 60s. Very Good+
Harry Lubin did the soundtrack for this classic sci-fi digest TV show, and Decca released the whole thing in a beautiful colored foil cover, with a picture of the Milky Way raidiating colorful rays over a shiny space set! A pretty nice Andre Previn soundtrack for this late Billy Wilder film that starred Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau – plus the young Judi West, who sings a version of "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To" on the album. The rest of the tracks are split pretty evenly between light jazzy ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jerry Goldsmith's score for one of the greatest movies of the 70s – done with this spacious mix of jazzy elements that's completely sublime – and a bit like some of Johnny Mandel's best scoring too! The film is set in the 30s, but Goldsmith uses a lot of mature 70s elements in his ... LP, Vinyl record album
