❔
A stunning lost bossa nova soundtrack! The score was penned for the 1967 film Garota De Ipanema (Girl From Ipanema), and although you've heard some of the tracks before in other versions, the overall album is very nice – and is a wonderful tribute to the early days of bossa nova! Jobim and Vinicius perform, as well as Baden Powell, Tamba Trio, Nara Leao, Elis Regina, Ronnie Von, Chico Buarque, and Quarteto Em Cy – and titles include "Por Voce", "Chorino", "Aria Para Se Morrer De Amor", "Rancho Das Namoradas", and "Tema Da Desilusao". We think some of the material might have popped up on otheralbums from time to time, but there's still enough stuff here that we hadn't heard elsewhere – and that we like a lot!  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Used CD Grade

We use the all-encompassing grade "Used CD" for non-new CDs because we only buy and offer used CDs in the best possible condition.

When you purchase a used CD you can expect the disc to be free of all but the lightest of surface marks, the case to be clean (we often change the cases ourselves), and the booklet to be in good shape. Used CDs may show some signs of use, but if there are significant details or defects we describe the item's condition (just like we do with LPs), so look for notes on cutout marks, stickers, promo stamps or other details before ordering.

All of our used CDs are guaranteed to play without skipping or flaws. After you receive a used CD from Dusty Groove, you have 1 week to play it to determine that it plays correctly. If it does not, you can request a return for a full refund.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or packaging details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the CD. This might include, but isn't limited to, scratches, tracks that skip, case/insert damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Juventude – Slow Motion Bossa Nova
Universal/Dubas (Brazil), 2001. Used
Slow Motion Bossa Nova certainly fits this one – a beautiful album of lush jazzy arrangements, done in the 60s style of artists like Roberto Menescal or Lalo Schifrin, but with added touches of soulful vocals by Celso Fonseca. The assemblage of musicians on the record is great – and ... CD

Kind of a dream combination in one little album – especially if you dig breezy bossa from the 60s! Back in 1966, Verve Records got the great idea of teaming up its (then) biggest Brazilian imports – vocalist Astrud Gilberto and organist Walter Wanderley – both of whom were ... CD

Amazing! One of our favorite records of all time! We totally love the work of Marcos Valle – and we can honestly say that he's probably our favorite Brazilian artist ever. Valle had an incredible musical vision, and he was one of those rare Brazilian talents – like Edu Lobo or ... CD

Tania Maria

Taurus
Concord/Picante, 1982. Used
CD pressing of one of Tania Maria's sweet early LPs for Concord, with a nice modern Brazilian groove that differs from her earlier bossa LPs from the 70's, but which still has a beautiful melodic fusion feel to it. Tania plays piano and keyboards, and she's joined by a smooth Bay Area ensemble ... CD

Gilberto Gil

Um Banda Um
Warner (Brazil), 1982. Used
A great early 80s set from Gilberto Gil – and one that has him fully assuming the soul singer mode that would carry him strongly through the rest of the decade! There's still a samba soul sense of funk at the core, but the overall instrumentation is a bit fuller and more electric – a ... CD
