Hardcore Vol 2

LP (Item 103224) Ryko/Superior Viaduct, 1970s — Condition: Sealed
2LP
Early art punk genius from Devo – the underground material from the pre-WB years – when they were still Ohio college students! Hardcore Volume 2 features 2LPs worth of 4- track recordings made in the mid 70s – darker, creepier synth punk than what you're used to from Devo – but still recognizable. These have a cruder sound than their pop years and a darker, chillier vibe that's pretty incredible. These guys are true originals and trailblazers and the formative work is well worth checking out! Volume 2 includes "Booji Boy's Funeral", "Can U Take It?", "The Rope Song", "Goo Goo Itch", an earlier version of "Be Stiff", "All Of Us", "Man From The Past", "Fountain Of Filth", "Doghouse Doghouse", "Shimmy Shake", "Working In The Coalmine", "Let's Go" and more,  © 1996-2023, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Sealed

This is what it says, that the record is still held fast in shrink-wrap. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these. In some cases the shrink-wrap may be torn in spots, but if it's not possible the record has been taken out and played, the record will still qualify as "Sealed".

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Warner, 1982. Near Mint-
Hey Spud boy! You need this record. Definitely underrated in the grand scheme, Oh No! finds the boys rocking a much more straightforward, nerdy computer funk sound. It sort of takes a page from the 80s Kraftwerk playbook with the grid-patterned 80s computer tomfoolery, albeit with a far more ... LP, Vinyl record album

A really unique album from The Residents – maybe one of their most unified records, and done in an unusual narrative style that has spoken word passages over their usual offbeat sounds! Uni, Late 60s. Near Mint-
A nice bit of funky rock from the late 60s – with touches of soul, and some jazzy horns in the mix too! The vocals get a bit white boy soul at most times – but the backing is pretty nice, and the group have a raw funky sound on the best tunes. There's a nice cover of "I Thank ... One of the few albums ever issued under the name of Michael Omartian – better known for his work in the studio on a wide variety of 70s sessions!
