Truck Turner

LP (Item 10289) Enterprise, 1974 — Condition: Near Mint-
2LP Gatefold
Originally: 39.99
Massive work from Isaac Hayes – a hard and heavy soundtrack that we like even more than his classic work on Shaft! Unlike Shaft, Ike actually starred in the film Truck Turner – which may be one reason why he brought his full game to the table for the record – and scored a batch of badass tunes that still stand with some of the best funky soundtrack work of the 70s! The rhythm's especially hard on the best cuts – really crackling with a lot of intensity, and a stark, hard funky sound that's made the record a favorite of beatheads for years! Ike kicks it hard on cuts like "Pursuit Of The Pimpmobile", "House Full Of Girls", "Drinking", "Give It To Me", "Now We're One", "Breakthrough", "House of Beauty", and the massive title cut "Truck Turner".  © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Original pressing! Cover has a cut corner and very light wear near the bottom – but this is a great copy.)

Near Mint - (minus)

  • Black vinyl that may show a slight amount of dust or dirt.
  • Should still be very shiny under a light, even with slight amount of dust on surface.
  • One or two small marks that would make an otherwise near perfect record slightly less so. These marks cannot be too deep, and should only be surface marks that won't affect play, but might detract from the looks.
  • May have some flaws and discoloration in the vinyl, but only those that would be intrinsic to the pressing. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record. (Buddah and ABC pressings from the 70's are a good example of this.)
  • May have some slight marks from aging of the paper sleeve on the vinyl.
  • Possible minor surface noise when played.

Condition Notes

If something is relevant, we try to describe it in the notes — especially if it is release or pressing details, or an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Stylistics

Rockin' Roll Baby
Avco, 1973. Very Good

Little Beaver

When Was The Last Time
Cat, 1976. Very Good
An excellent album of smooth soul tracks – very different than Little Beaver's earlier work, but every bit as great! Times Have Changed
Curtom, 1972. Very Good Gatefold
A post-Curtis Mayfield album by The Impressions – but one that crackles with the raw righteousness of Curtis' first few solo albums on Curtom! Hi Records, 1973. Very Good
Al Green, 1973 – what could be better? Spanky Wilson

Doin' It
Mother, 1969. Sealed
A bit of soul, a bit of jazz, and some nice funky touches at the bottom – a killer little set from the great Spanky Wilson! Wilson's got a really unique place in music – at one level a soul singer with enough sophistication to rival the sound of Marlena Shaw or Nancy Wilson – but ... LP, Vinyl record album
United Artists, 1969. Near Mint-
One of the lesser known John Barry soundtracks, to one of the lesser known Bond films – but a nice one! The record has a beautiful easy quality that's a bit different from some of Barry's other work, and which allies it a bit more with the Sound Gallery/Sound Spectrum sound of the late 60s. ...
