Mickey One – Original Soundtrack

LP (Item 10233) MGM, Mid 60s — Condition: Used
Out Of Stock

LP

An excellent one from Getz – recorded here as the lead soloist over backings composed by Eddie Sauter, designed to accompany the film Mickey One, an early directorial effort from Arthur Penn (and starring Warren Beatty as well!) The score has a very edgey quality to it, and Getz's playing is superb – a clear contrast to his breathier bossa work of the same vintage, and proof that he was growing tremendously as a player at the time. Titles include "Where I Live", "The Creature Machine", "Morning Ecstasy", "As Long As I Live", "Mickey's Theme", and "On Stage".  © 1996-2016, Dusty Groove, Inc.

We realize that there are many different interpretations of the standard grades used for pre-owned vinyl record albums & CD, so we thought we'd offer you the ones that we are working with, so you have an idea what we mean when we give the grade for a non-new item on our pages.

Used Vinyl Grades

Below are stated conditions for a used vinyl records at Dusty Groove. Grading for the cover should be assumed to be near (within a "+" or "-") the grading for the vinyl. If there is significant divergence from the condition of the vinyl, or specific flaws, these will be noted in the comments section of the item. However, please be aware that since the emphasis of this site is towards the music listener, our main concern is with the vinyl of any used item we sell. Additionally, please note that all of our records are graded visually; considering the volume of used vinyl we handle, it is impossible for us to listen to each record. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play.

The following grading conditions apply to the vinyl component of an album or single:

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

Quite possibly our favorite Shorty Rogers album ever – an incredible soundtrack that's unlike most of his other work of the time! The record features Shorty's score for the film Tarzan The Ape Man (and a cover that has Shorty being carried in the arms of same!) – and as you might guess ... LP, Vinyl record album

A sweet and loungey set of tunes – played by Don on the Hammond X-77, as he might have before a weekend crowd at Denver's Passport Ltd! Most of the cuts on the album are covers of late 60s pop hits – like "Aquarius", "Look Of Love", "Watermelon Man", and ... LP, Vinyl record album

A great batch of sunny soul jazz numbers – recorded by Wayne Henderson at a time when he was scoring big with the Jazz Crusaders! Groove Holmes and Jimmy McGriff go head to head in this double-organ extravaganza! A beautiful collaboration between Miles Davis and the great Gil Evans – and perhaps the most perfectly realized of all their projects! Impulse, 1963. Very Good Gatefold
A landmark album of vocal jazz – and one of the few sessions that John Coltrane ever cut with a singer!
