Walk On The Wild Side

LP (Item 10052) Choreo/AVA, Early 60s — Condition: Very Good+

One of Elmer Bernstein's best soundtracks of the 60s – written for this film set in the brothels of New Orleans in the 30s, with a mix of jazz and dramatic themes. The best cuts are the jazz-based ones – tunes that come across with more of a 60s groove than you'd expect, given the setting of the film, and which are played by a small combo. Other tracks are more serious – and titles include "Juke For Teresina", "Exit Kitty", "Hallie's Jazz", "Iron Rings", "Doll House", and "Walk On The Wild Side".  © 1996-2020, Dusty Groove, Inc.
(Stereo pressing on Choreo. Cover has some wear and tape along part of the top seam.)

Very Good + (plus)

  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.

Additional Marks & Notes

If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record. This might include, but isn't limited to, warped records, tracks that skip, cover damage or wear as noted above, or strictly cosmetic flaws.

AVA, Mid 60s. Near Mint-
Elmer Bernstein at his greatest – working here with the best mix of drama and energy he could bring to a film score during this golden age – a perfect blend of older orchestrations and a new sort of emotion that was perfect for the 60s! AVA, Mid 60s. Sealed
A great Elmer Bernstein score for this creepy psycho drama! At the best times, the score has the jazzy overtones of Walk On The Wild Side or Man With The Golden Arm – serious and soundtracky to be sure, but with some great work in a drama jazz style that was always Bernstein's best calling ...
