Roy AyersRunning Away (long, short) (promo version) ... 12-inch
Polydor, 1977. Very Good- (pic cover)... $14.99
Doobie-doo doobie-doo! One of the catchiest Roy Ayers dancefloor tracks ever – a bassy bumping thumper that wonderfully skirts the line between clubby and funky! The track's got female vocals singing along with the hook – all in a mode that's quite similar to the most uptempo work by Ramp – and the tune may well be best known for it's famous sample use by Tribe Called Quest on their classic "Description Of A Fool"! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(White label promo. Cover has wear, a large name in marker & a split top seam.)

Frank Hooker & Positive PeopleI Wanna Know Your Name/This Feelin ... 12-inch
Panorama, 1980. Near Mint- ... $0.99
Frank Hooker and his group take on Philly International with "I Wanna Know Your Name" – all in a homegrown style that's a bit less dramatically soulful than The Blue Notes, but which still has some nice harmony moments on the chorus. "This Feelin" is back to the group's more traditionally clubby styles – with snapping beats and a fair bit of keyboards that really help the tune cook! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Promo in a Panorama sleeve.)

✨✧ Aloe BlaccI Need A Dollar (voc, inst)/Take Me Back (voc, inst) ... 12-inch
Stones Throw, 2010. Sealed (pic cover)... $9.99
Do you need a dollar? You just might get one with this stellar and soulful single by Aloe Blacc – rawly produced, memorably composed, and one of the finer underground soul singles of 2010! "I Need A Dollar" may sound familiar – it's the theme song to How To Make It In America on HBO – but that aside, it's a winning single and a sign of the great things to come on Aloe's Good Things LP. He takes a socially conscious tack on the A-side that serves the sound wonderfully. Co-produced and by Jeff Dynamite and Truth & Soul player Leon Michels – the latter providing tight horn arrangements. The flip "Take Me Back" is a more measured funky soul number that's just as excellent. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Dee Dee BridgewaterBad For Me (long, short) ... 12-inch
Elektra, 1979. Very Good+ ... Just Sold Out!
A tightly stepping little number from Dee Dee Bridgewater – the soulful title track to her album of the same name, remixed here with a bit more flair by Larry Levan! The tune skips along at a really upbeat little pace – not really club, and with more of a boogie flavor overall – and it's backed by a mellower number with some jazzy George Duke production! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(White label promo with some pen.)
