LiminanasMalamore ... LP
HoZac, 2016. New Copy ... $13.99
The Liminanas are looking hipper than ever on the cover of this album – and sounding hipper than ever too – really opening up that amazing sound that's made them one of our favorite French acts of the past decade or so! All the fuzz of previous records is still in place, but the vocals also seem to be a bit more upfront in the mix – not polished or commercial, but given this placement that really makes the whole thing sound even moodier and darker than before! There's a strong current between their music and classic modes from folks like Serge Gainsbourg and Jacques Dutronc – but the sound is definitely all their own. The set features guest appearances by Pascal Comelade and Peter Hook – and titles include "Dahlia Rouge", "Paradise Now", "The Train Creep A Loopin", "Zippo", "Garden Of Love", "El Sordo", "Prisunic", and "Athen IA". LowlifeLeaders/White Lightning/Thinking Natural ... 7-inch
HoZac, Late 70s. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)... $7.99
Vital roar from late 70s Canada by Lowlife – maybe the first ever punk band from Winnipeg! Given the monsters pictured on the sleeve, you might think "Leaders" would be super gnarly, but it's a pretty hooky track, though plenty raw. "White Lightning" isn't a punk version of the George Jones tune, but another high flying Lowlife original, and it does have a little bit of rootsy fuel to the guitar and bass, maybe inspired by X...not an inspiration we'd ever complain about if so! "Thinking Natural" slays, too. 7-inch, Vinyl record

Brian McMahonJaguar Ride – Memories Of An Electric Eel ... Book
HoZac, 2017. New Copy ... $32.99 34.99
A wild ride through trailblazing path of protopunk legends The Electric Eels and the early 70s Cleveland underground rock scene – a turbulent scene in a then incredibly gritty, struggling midwestern American city – with bands and sounds that predate and helped steamroll the path that led to the very existence of American punk rock in NYC years later. Really!! The book, rather than any kind of dry historical document detailing a pivotal band's place in a nascent scene, is the wholly unique personal narrative of Eels guitarist Brian McMahon and those close to him. It's a pretty amazing story, laid out in a really original way! One of most fascinating underground rock bios/autobios we've picked up in years! Paperback, 300 pages. Book
(1st edition. Limited to just 500 copies!)

TerminalsUncoffined ... LP
Flying Nun/HoZac, 1990. New Copy (reissue)... $15.99 18.99
A rare, really incredible record by The Terminals – one of great, lesser known groups from the New Zealand underground rock scene of the late 80s! We won't strain too hard to compare them to more celebrated bands NZ bands like The Clean or The Verlaines. There's something darker and more ominous at play with The Terminals, but there is a kinship in their catchy, tuneful way a melody, raw it as may be. There's some strains of vintage garage and pre-punk influences, too, with the eerie organ and thumping rhythms. Killer stuff! Fans of 80s underground sounds that paved the way for 90s indie will really love this one! Includes "No", "Love, Hate, Revenge", "Uncoffined", "Uncoffined", "Before It Rains", "Cockroaches", "All Their Lies", "Frozen Car", "Gasoline", "Hungry Joe", "Castaway", "Mothlight" and "Lolita. ✨✧ Sal MaidaFour Strings, Phony Proof & 300 45s – Adventures From Roxy Music, Sparks & Milk N Cookies ... Book
HoZac, 2017. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A pretty amazing little memoir by NYC born & bred bass player Sal Maida – hardly a household name, but a guy whose story ought to be known – having gone from an obsessive music fan and card carrying member of the Sparks International Fan Club to actually playing IN Sparks, but not until after some time playing bass in Roxy Music, and co-founding east coast power pop should-be legends Milk 'N' Cookies! His story and adventures don't begin or end in any of those situations, though. He's done session work in loads of Kim Fowley productions and all kinds of great stuff with fascinating characters, and while he could be forgiven for laying out his story by bragging, he never really does that here, starting out as a New York's Little Italy-bred Anglophile who kept finding himself and more and more interesting situations, but was first a starstruck fan. Written in his charming voice, and filled with his own photos and more. Paperback, 175+ pages and with a forward by Lenny Kaye. Book
(This first printing is officially sold out via the publisher...get it while we got it!)

✨✧ OisterOister (with download) ... LP
HoZac, Early 70s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
Unsung early 70s genius from Dwight Twilley & Phil Seymour – a few years earlier than their legendary power pop in the Dwight Twilley Band, and a pretty stunning batch of tightly melodic material that's just raw enough – top shelf stuff seeing proper release for the first time ever! Stunningly, these are essentially home recordings, made while they were knocking around their hometown of Tulsa in '73 & '74, but it's pretty freaking incredible how fully realized the sound and overall craft are here. This is no grainy batch of workshop material, nor does it sound like demos or aural blueprints of glories to come – it's incredibly catchy and full of great songs with killer harmonies. The best package yet in the Hozac Archival series! Includes "Love Is A Train", "Hot Ma", "Lovin' Me", "No Resistance", "Come And See Me", "Little Stars", "Didn't You", "You Can't Remember It", "Pop Bottle", "Miserable Lady", "Rock Yourself Son", "You're My Lover", "Release Me" and more. ✨✧ Razor BoysAtlanta 1978 (with download) ... LP
HoZac, 1978. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Raw, grimy and glammy proto punk from The Razor Boys – trailblazing stuff from the late 70s Atlanta scene! Given the era and the glam appearance, it's near impossible to not mention a debt to the New York Dolls, but really, The Razor Boys direct knock off of no one, just a fierce vessel for the rawest, buzziest blasts of visceral rock & roll, but still hooky. We'd love take a wayback machine to see these guys back in the day, playing songs like "S**tface" in seedy clubs in cities in the American south in the late 70s, when that'd be pretty fresh and mindblowing – but this gnarly LP from Hozac gets us surprisingly close! Includes "Toys", "Sweet Chablis", "Raggamuffin", "Get Rick Quick", "Needle Fever", "S**tface", "Wolf Spider", "High School" and "The Last Rocker". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ PrixHistorix (with download) ... LP
HoZac, Mid 70s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Rare soulful rock and power pop from the mid 70s Memphis scene – and a lost chapter in the Big Star and Ardent Record stories! Prix was founded by lead singer and rhythm guitarist Tommy Hoehn and lead guitarist Jon Tiven, both of whom contributed to Big Star either in the studio or on tour towards the end of that band's early 70s run. Upon entering Ardent to record as Prix, Big Star heavies Alex Chilton and Chris Bell came in to help out, and some pretty great stuff was recorded – but other than a couple singles on the Ork label, it stayed mostly buried for years! The best tracks here are starry-eyed power pop that's rawer, but reminiscent of bands like The Raspberries at their best, kind of prefiguring early Cheap Trick, and still carrying the soulfully resonant Ardent vibe. Titles include "Girl", "She Might Look My Way", "Love You Tonight (Saturday's Gone)", "Zero", "Every Time I Close My Eyes", "Run Run Away", "Follow You", "All Of The Time", "Take Me Home And Make Me Like It", and more – including some bonus alternate versions. 14 tracks on the LP. ✨✧ Mike Rep & The QuotasHellbender – 1975 to 1978 ... LP
HoZac, Mid 70s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Raw underground rock from mid 70s Ohio – which was for whatever reason (or reasons),one hell of a hotbed for caustic rock & roll – and these firebrands are more than worthy of that legacy! Mike Rep & The Quotas carry more of a torch for rugged, primoridial rock and roll than some of the more nihlistic or art damaged trailblazers from mid 70s OH, taking fuzzy, knife-sharp stabs songs like "Gloria", and in-the-red trudge on the Bo Diddley beat on "Bo Diddley Is A Quote", and even a rugged cover of Roxy Music's "Editions Of You", but it's mostly an original, distinctive blast. Lots of previously unreleased tracks on this great Hozac Archival discovery – and other tracks include "Laugh Jackal Laugh", "Cowboy Gone Straight", "Black Hole '78", "Even Higher" and more.
