Hal's Hobbits/Made In BrasilHal's Hobbits/Crickets Sing For Anamaria ... 7-inch
Hal's Music Center, Mid 70s. Very Good+ ... $69.99
A rare single from this legendary Bay Area Brazilian group – one that was only issued on a small pressing by a local music store! Side one features "Hal's Hobbits" – the story of how some Hobbits formed Hal's Music Center – a pretty goofy spoken bit. But side two features an early cut by bossa maestro Victor M – a totally great take on the Marcos Valle tune "Crickets Sing For Anamaria" (Os Grilos) – with great vocals from a female singer, a sweet flute solo near the end, and lots of driving percussion! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Single has a very slight dish warp, but is pretty great overall.)

✨✧ ScientistHeavy Metal Dub ... LP
Clocktower, 1982. Used (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
No heavy metal here – but definitely some classic dub from Scientist – who's much more in love with the sound of an echoey bassline than any sort of freaky fuzz guitar! Tunes are beautifully spare – which allows for lots of spacey interplay between the few instruments used to create the music – very basic drums, often with lots of echo flanging them out – bad-stepping bass, usually moving at a nice slow pace – and occasional guitar, piano, or organ bits – depending on the tune. Roots Radics provide the rhythms, and Scientist and Jammy provide the mixes on these 10 dubs – titles that include "Having Fun With The Klingons", "Rocking Time Warp Dub", "Jah Love All Aliens", "Party Time On The Enterprise", "Dread In A Remulacks Dub", and "Smerf Wak Head Beat". LP, Vinyl record album
(Black label pressing. Cover has a cut corner and an unglued top seam.)

Foster SylversFoster Sylvers (Pride LP) ... LP
Pride, 1973. Near Mint- ... Just Sold Out!
How old was Foster Sylvers when he cut this record? Seven? Eight? Whatever the case, the little tyke forever changed the face of funky music with the incredible cut "Misdemeanor" – one of those chunky funky numbers that sounds like nothing else we've ever heard, and which has been in demand on the groove scene for years and years. The cut's simply amazing, and it kicks off a record that's pretty darn tasty all-around. Young Foster's singing in kind of a Jackson Five mode – but he's got some great arrangements by Jerry Peters, David Crawford, and King Errison that keep things pretty funky on many tracks, and nice and soulful on the rest. A good portion of the numbers are covers, but even those are done nicely. Titles include the classic "Misdemeanor", plus "I'm Your Puppet", "Hey Little Girl", "Mockingbird", "I'll Get You In The End", "Swooperman", "More Love", "Happy Face", "Lullabye/Uncle Albert", and "Only My Love Is True". LP, Vinyl record album
(Nice original pressing! Vinyl has a very slight warp that does not affect play. Cover has a small cutout notch.)

UndergroundPsychedelic Visions ... LP
Wing/Wah Wah (Spain), 1967. Near Mint- (reissue)... $16.99
A classic set of raw raunchy rock from the late 60s – originally issued as kind of a "cash in" record to grab some bucks on the rise of psych and garage – but a record that easily stands head to head with the best of its time! These guys drink heavy from the same brew as The Seeds, Count Five, Sonics, and other groups of the period – and work in a raw, garagey style that's hardly what you'd expect from Mercury Records Wing label subsidiary – especially given the sound of the guitars! Many cuts are covers, but they're performed with as much bold energy as the original tracks – and the set is awash in freak, fuzz, and echo! Titles include "Psychotic Reaction", "Psychedelic Dream", "Psychotic Vibrations", "Mind Jammer", "The Warper", and "Turn On Your Love Light". LP, Vinyl record album
