✨✧ VariousAsian Disco – Disco Divas, Funky Queens & Psych Ladies From Asia From The 70s to Early 90s ... LP
Aberrant, Late 70s/1980s/Early 90s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A rare set of disco tunes we never would have heard otherwise – most from the late 70s , and proof that back in the day, the sound of New York had a huge impact around the globe! Vocals on most cuts are in the local language – tracks here are from Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia – but the instrumentation often has plenty of the funky elements you'd know from American disco tracks – yet often taken into leaner territory, too – and given a slightly different spin in terms of production and arrangement – maybe a bit like some of the clubbier cuts you'd hear on a Bollywood soundtrack. The set's from the same folks who gave us the great Taiwan Disco compilation – and features work by Chailai & Sawanee, Lei Si Si, Ding Dai, Yasmin, Hit Girls, Grace Simon, Fatimah Razy, and Sum Sum & Pan Pan. ✨✧ VariousSuper Bad ... LP
K-Tel, 1973. Sealed ... Out Of Stock
One of the few things K-Tel ever got right was the seventies soul compilation – even though they only included shorter versions of the tunes, mostly 7" versions. This classic, once available on TV, contains the cuts Honey Cone "Want Ads", Main Ingredient "Everybody Plays The Fool", Chairmen Of The Board "Give Me Just A Little More Time", Freda Payne "Band of Gold", Detroit Emeralds "Baby Let Me Take You In My Arms", Timmy Thomas "Why Can't We Live Together" and loads more nice early 70s soul numbers, 20 of them in all! ✨✧ 48 Chairs (Lol Coxhill/Gerry & The Holograms)70% Paranoid (with bonus tracks) ... LP
Cache Cache (UK), Late 70s. New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of the strangest collaborations of the post-punk years in England – a one-off project that unites reedman Lol Coxhill with Gerry & The Holograms – an offbeat combo who were perfect for the odd range of ideas that Coxhill always wanted to express! Lol's best known these days for his free jazz improvisations – but back in the 70s, he would often cross the tracks to work with artists in a range of different styles – which he does here beautifully, adding both his voice and his reeds to the record – while the rest of the group create tunes that are slightly punky, sometimes funky, and resonate with the best spirit of the DIY generation. Titles include "Discolero", "Rhino Whip", "Snap It Around", "Relentless", "Camracadabra", "Psychle Sluts", "Samurai Swords", and "You Were Never There". Also features bonus tracks "Cob On" and "Tootsies". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Tears For FearsSongs From The Big Chair ... LP
Mercury, 1985. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Was there a finer moment of 80s pop than this little gem? Maybe not – as the duo are at their most floppy-haired charming throughout – serving up some of the catchiest new romantic material of their generation, including the hits "Shout" and "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" – plus the tracks "Broken", "Listen", "Head Over Heels", "Mothers Talk", and "The Working Hour". PersuasionsWe Came To Play ... LP
Capitol, Mid 70s. Near Mint- ... $6.99
A beautiful group soul vocals effort from the Persuasions in the early 70s – working in a throwback acapella mode, but still with a fresh feel – thanks to a hip dawn of the 70s sound, and a stripped-down feel that you'd probably have never gotten back in the day! It's amazing how fresh it sounds, even today – each individual voice captured with crystal clarity, and strong genuine emotion – with an honest and real sound that's not overly polished. Wonderful! Titles include "Chain Gang", "Walk On The Wild Side", "Gypsy Woman", "Another Night With The Boys", "Let It Be", "Don't It Make You Want To Go Home", and "The Sun". LP, Vinyl record album
(Red label pressing. Cover has bumped corners.)

✨✧ BeatlesEarly Beatles ... LP
Capitol, Early 60s. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
An early American release on Capitol – kind of a "catch up" album that brings together material before the label had rights for US issue of their records! Titles include "Twist & Shout", "Love Me Do", "Anna", "Chains", "Ask Me Why", "Please Please Me", "Do You Want To Know A Secret", "PS I Love You", and "Baby It's You". LP, Vinyl record album
(Early 70s stereo Apple pressing in an RIAA 9 cover, with a cutout hole, some ringwear, heavy yellowing from age, and a small center split in the spine.)

✨✧ VariousShake – 60s Brit Mod Nuggets ... LP
Strawberry (UK), Mid 60s. New Copy 2LP ... Out Of Stock
The title's certainly got it right – as the set's overflowing with killer UK tracks from a time when the scene was heavily influenced by American soul, jazz, blues, and R&B – served up here on a host of singles that go way past the bigger names of that generation, and which really show the diversity and complexity of the underground groups who were making London hum in the mid 60s! And despite a strong influence from America, most of these acts aren't just aping music from our shores, and instead are already taking it to new and exciting places – using core elements in very different ways, at a level that would end up being a path forward for prog, psych, and other styles to come! The limited 2LP set features 34 tracks in all – and titles include "Oh Yeah" by The Others, "Unchain My Heart" by Trendbender Band, "Work Song" by James Royal, "I Still Want You" by Mickey Finn & The Blue Men, "Things She Says" by The In Crowd, "Crawdaddy Simone" by The Syndicats, "That Driving Beat" by The Favourite Sons, "I Take What I Want" by The Artwoods, "Number One" by Stormsville Shakers, "See Saw" by The Union, "Ain't Love Good" by Lucas & The Mike Cotton Sound, "Gotta Brand New Man" by Barry St Loun, "Last Night" by Laurel Aitken & The Soul Men, "Turn On Your Lovelight" by Wynder K Frog, "Something For Nothing" by Carl Douglas & The Big Stampede, "Good Lovin Never Hurt" by The Soul Brothers, "Hold On" by Ruperts People, and "She's A Girl" by The Attraction. ✨✧ Multiple Zithers Of Ernie Hood/Hawg Thistlefield & The Hawg Brothers Family BandBedroom Of The Absent Child/Talk Show Blues ... 7-inch
Rexius, 1970s. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Scarce private pressing of later work on zither by Ernie Hood, a jazz guitarist active in the Portland area in the 40s before contracting polio in the 50s, leaving him confined to a wheelchair and no longer able to hold a guitar. "Bedroom Of The Absent Child" is beautifully spare with harp-like plucks and sweeps, and "Talk Show Blues" is spoken poetry over twangy country guitars. 7-inch, Vinyl record
