✨✧ Boney MNightflight To Venus ... LP
Hansa, 1978. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A nice bit of space age disco fantasy from Boney M – a set that's got a few more electronic touches than some of the group's other records, but which still continues in a straight ahead poppy vein! There's a sound here that's arguably a bit more sophisticated than before – especially on some of the rhythms, which almost hint at Bohannon like complexity at the bottom. There's almost a bit more club appeal than you might expect – although other tunes are definitely more the stuff of hotel lobby dancefloors than warehouse parties in New York. Titles include "King Of The Road", "Nightflight To Venus", "Voodoonight", "Brown Girl In the Ring", "Heart Of Gold", and the hit version of "Rivers Of Babylon". LP, Vinyl record album
(US Sire pressing. Cover has a promo stamp.)

✨✧ Paul McCartney & WingsVenus & Mars ... LP
Capitol, 1975. Very Good+ Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
Maybe the greatest moment ever from Paul McCartney & Wings – a set that features killer hits and lesser-known gems – all woven into a fantastic 70s sonic tapestry! The production and presentation of the record are wonderful – the whole thing was virtually a pop art piece when it came out – and Paul's got a way of both being intimate and charming, and helping push the whole group with soaring energy that really made them huge at the time. The album's got great production – and also features guest work from Allen Toussaint, Tom Scott, and Dave Mason. Side one is a non-stop flow of pop genius – woven from the tunes "Venus & Mars", "Rock Show", "Love In Song", "You Cgave Me The Answer", "Magneto & Titanium Man", and "Letting Go" – and side two follows up with so many great surprises – including "Treat Her Gently Lonely Old People", "Medicine Jar", "Spirits Of Ancient Egypt", and "Listen To What The Man Said". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes both posters, both stickers, and printed inner sleeve! Cover has a hype sticker and minimal wear.)

✨✧ Dengue FeverVenus On Earth ... LP
M80 Music, 2008. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Moody, kind of sultry and pulpy Cambodian rock, LA style – perhaps the best record yet from Dengue Fever! The backdrop of keys, horns, guitars, percussion and bass has never sound as measured, loose and assured as it does on Venus On Earth – with Chhom Nimol reminding us of the sweetness out front of the raucous, exuberant sounds of 60s underground Cambodian rock, and living up to that legacy quite well! Titles include "Seeing Hands", "Clipped Wings", "Tigher Phone Card", "Sober Driver", "Monsoon Of Perfume", "Integration", "Oceans Of Venus", "Tooth And Nail" and "Mr Orange". LP, Vinyl record album

Be Bop DeluxeAxe Victim ... LP
EMI/Harvest, Mid 70s. Near Mint- Gatefold ... $14.99
The amazing debut of Be Bop Deluxe – a record that's made up of all sorts of familiar parts, yet somehow really manages to set itself apart as a whole! The young Bill Nelson is at the top of his game here – a hell of a guitarist, which we sometimes forget in his later work – and a vocalist with a sinister edge that gives the record a sense of darkness that matches the compressed production and overall moody vibe – a child of the Bowie/Bolan generation, but one that's a real black sheep of the family too! The strength of the record is impossible to sum up in easy words – but it's there for the hearing, right from the very first note – on titles that include "Jet Silver & The Dolls Of Venus", "Axe Victim", "Love Is Swift Arrows", "No Trains To Heaven", "Jets At Dawn", "Rocket Cathedrals", and "Third Floor Heaven". LP, Vinyl record album
(UK pressing. Cover is lightly stained and slightly wavy at the bottom 3 inches or so, with an import sticker in back.)

✨✧ John ColtraneInterstellar Space ... LP
Impulse, 1967/1974. Very Good+ Gatefold ... Just Sold Out!
One of the greatest recordings ever made by John Coltrane in his later years – a record that has him stepping off into really new territory that would have really been something, had he stayed on the planet long enough to make more recordings like this! The vibe is very experimental – almost predating loft jazz work to come in the 70s – as Coltrane works here just alongside the drums of Rashied Ali – a fantastic match for his mighty talents, as the pair work together with a whole new extrapolation of the spiritual territory that had been unlocked on more famous records of the time. The material didn't come out until years after Coltrane's death – at a time when others were already recording this way – but the set maybe blows away some of the best material of this nature from the 70s. Titles include "Mars", "Venus", "Jupiter", and "Saturn". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original green label quad compatible pressing!)

Modern Jazz QuartetSpace ... LP
Apple, Late 60s. Very Good Gatefold ... $7.99
Beautifully spacey work from the Modern Jazz Quartet – a record that more than earns its enigmatic title! The session's an odd one – in that the MJQ are recording for the Beatles' famous Apple label – but that fact is also one of the best aspects of the record, as it seems to push the group past the staid third stream sound of some of their 60s recordings for Atlantic, into territory that's a bit more experimental, and concerned with sound, colors, and texture. The album's got 2 incredible originals from John Lewis – "Visitor From Mars" and "Visitor From Venus" – plus the tracks "Dilemma" and "Adagio From Concierto De Aranjuez". LP, Vinyl record album

Perrey-KingsleyIn Sound From Way Out ... LP
Vanguard, 1966. Very Good+ ... $19.99
One of the moogiest records of all time – a legendary LP of "electronic pop music of the future" – sourced and claimed as an influence by everyone from Stereolab to the Beastie Boys! The legendary team of Gershon Kingsley and Jean-Jaques Perry are working here in early tape experiments that chop up quirky analogue electronics – and uses them to produce moogy songbits and space sounds, all with a really groovy beat! There's a simple magic here that has made the album hold up for years, and stand apart from a legion of later imitators with a clear, simple, and effective style that makes the best of all the bleeps and blonks in the set! Titles include "Unidentified Flying Object", "Spooks in Space", "Barnyard In Orbit", "Swan's Splashdown", and "Girl From Venus". A loving musical space party! LP, Vinyl record album
(Orange label stereolab pressing. Cover has splitting on the top seam, mild corner bump.)

Johnny WilliamsHow To Steal A Million ... LP
20th Century, 1966. Near Mint- ... $14.99
Mid 60s magic from Johnny Williams – a cool little score to an obscure heist film that starred Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole! The style here is very much like some of Johnny's other best of the time – often playful at points, but warmer at others – a great blend of fuller strings and more whimsical instrumentation that keeps up all the delightful play of the action on the screen. Titles include "Two Lovers", in both vocal and instrumental versions – plus "At Maxims", "The Cellini Venus", "The Prowler", "Simon Says", and "The Can Can". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono black & gold label pressing. Cover has a small cutout hole, some ringwear, and some small application wrinkles at the right side.)

✨✧ Claude DenjeanMoog ... LP
Phase 4, 1970. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A really great album from the glory days of the moog generation – served up by an artist who'd formerly worked in jazz, but who does a great job here – working with very little behind the electronics! Tracks include "Venus", "Raindrops Keep Fallin On My Head", and "Everybody's Talkin" – and a nice version of "Nights In White Satin" too! LP, Vinyl record album
(A great copy!)

✨✧ Miles DavisBirth Of The Cool ... LP
Capitol, Late 40s/Early 50s. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Legendary early work from trumpeter Miles Davis – late 40s sessions for Capitol Records that are completely different than the bop material he was cutting with Charlie Parker and on his own! Instead, these sides have Miles working with a complex, more arranged style – built up with a young Gil Evans, in a mode that prefaces the later famous recordings the pair would make in the late 50s for Columbia. Here, the tracks are shorter, but beautifully blend bop ideas with fuller arrangements – and Davis blows alongside other key young modernists in a variety of larger groups – with work from Lee Konitz on alto, Gerry Mulligan on baritone sax, JJ Johnson and Kai Winding on trombones, Al Haig and John Lewis on piano, and Kenny Clarke and Max Roach on drums. Mulligan contributed plenty, too – his ideas on an overall sound definitely helped shape these sides – and the record's go on to legendary status – even though it's very different than most other Miles Davis from the time. Titles include "Godchild", "Jeru", "Move", "Venus De Milo", "Budo", and "Deception". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono turquoise label pressing with anvil stamp. Includes the Capitol High Fidelity inner sleeve. Cover has light aging, minimal wear, and a small sticker spot in back.)

✨✧ Hank MobleyCaddy For Daddy ... LP
Blue Note, 1965. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
One of the greatest Blue Note albums of all time – a record that's even better than the look of it's cover – which is already pretty darn classic! Hank Mobley had been making records for Blue Note for a number of years before this set – but Caddy For Daddy is one in which he really takes off – mixing earlier hardbop modes with a more complex approach to both rhythm and lyricism – matched with some wonderful work from Lee Morgan in the frontline, who was also really hitting new heights at the time – in a group that also includes Curtis Fuller on trombone, McCoy Tyner on piano, Bob Cranshaw on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums. The group plays this amazing mix of soul jazz and modal grooves that sets a whole new standard in the Blue Note catalog – and every cut is a winner, with titles that include "Venus Di Mildew", "The Morning After", "3rd Time Around", and "Ace Deuce Trey". Fantastic material all the way through, with tracks that will stay in your head for years – and one of the greatest jazz album covers ever! LP, Vinyl record album
(Scorpio reissue.)

✨✧ Paul MauriatChristmas Album ... LP
Philips, 1967. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Groovy Christmas work from French maestro Paul Mauriat – a set that's a bit more serious than some of Paul's other work from the 60s, but still plenty darn nice! Some of the tunes are familiar, others are originals by Mauriat – and the overall presentation has that nicely lean feel that Paul was bringing to his regular work of the period – a nice change from older overdone holiday modes! Titles include "Entre Le Boeuf Et L'Ane Gris", "Rin Rin", "Silent Night", "Trois Anges Sont Venus", "O Holy Night", "Petit Papa Noel", and "White Christmas". LP, Vinyl record album

Heavy drums from Jimmy Takeuchi – in a groovy 60s Japanese mode, with a great mix of jazz and swinging styles! The set's got the usual instrumental covers of Anglo hits, but also features some nice Japanese material too – titles that include "Let It Be", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Venus", "Maltese Melody", and more. ✨✧ TelevisionMarquee Moon ... LP
Elektra, 1977. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
The massive full length flowering of Television – a record issued on a major label, but which represents all the underground genius that the group had been bringing to the New York scene for a few years in the mid 70s! The guitar might be worth the price of admission alone – a standard-setting approach that influenced a generation – and, when matched with the vocals of Tom Verlaine, really knocks the whole thing out of the park! There's a blend of raw edge and understated poetry that instantly demonstrates why the American underground of the time was so different than the world of British punk – and although the set came out in 1977, it still has a massive power all these many years later. Every track's a gem – and titles include "See No Evil", "Venus", "Friction", "Marquee Moon", "Elevation", "Guiding Light", "Prove It", and "Torn Curtain". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Gil MelleNew Faces – New Sounds (10 inch LP) ... LP
Blue Note, Early 50s. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Seminal work from the legendary Gil Melle – one of his early 10" sessions for Blue Note, prime 50s modern jazz from the original Melle cover right down to the music in the grooves! The session features 2 different groups, and has Melle's haunting tenor (not baritone) playing amidst other bop-era modernists like Eddie Bert, Tal Farlow, George Wallington, and Max Roach – coming together on tunes that are as magical as the titles might imply – "Mars", "Four Moons", "Sunset Concerto", "The Gears", "October", "Cyclotron", and "Venus". Monica Dell also sings some incredible wordless vocals on a few tunes! LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Gerry MulliganGerry Mulligan Songbook Vol 1 ... LP
Pacific Jazz, 1957. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
Gerry Mulligan meets up with a great array of 50s modernists here – in specially setting dedicated to all Mulligan-penned compositions! Although a radical player himself on the baritone sax, Gerry also added something strong to the 50s jazz catalog with his great tunes from the early days – gently modern numbers that slowly became standards over the years, thanks to respect from other players. The best of these tracks are showcased here – played by Mulligan with a sax section that includes Zoot Sims on alto and tenor, Al Cohn on tenor and baritone, Lee Konitz on alto, and Allan Eager on alto and tenor. Rhythm is by the piano-less section of Freddie Green on guitar, Henry Grimes on bass, and Dave Bailey on drums – and titles include "Venus De Milo", "Revelation", "Sextet", "Turnstyle", "Four & One More", "Crazy Day", and "Disc Jockey Jump". ✨✧ Lenny WhiteVenusian Summer ... LP
Nemperor, 1975. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Drummer Lenny White was one of the strongest talents on the kit to emerge during the 70s fusion years – a player who was every bit as tight and powerful as Billy Cobham, and maybe even more far-reaching in his style – as you might guess from the cosmic image on the cover! The album's got more than enough propulsion to soar to the skies – with White on massive drums – working with a killer batch of musicians that includes Patrick Gleason on keyboards and electronics, Onaje Allan Gumbs on acoustic and electric piano, Jimmy Smith and Larry Young on organ, Larry Coryell and Doug Rodriguez on guitars, and Tom Harrell on flugelhorn – all working together in a razor-sharp mix of acoustic and electric elements! Titles include "Mating Drive", "Venusian Summer", "Chicken Fried Steak", and "Prince Of The Sea". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Nino RotaIl Casanova Di Federico Fellini ... LP
CAM (Italy), 1976. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A later soundtrack in the legendary pairing of composer Nino Rota and director Federico Fellini – and a set that almost seems to have Rota picking up a few tips from his 70s contemporaries on the Italian scene! The music here is often more spare than before, and sometimes uses a key instrumental element – like a keyboard or guitar part, delivered with a languid energy that recalls work by Ennio Morricone or Stelvio Cipriani, mixed with a few other passages that have some more Rota-like melody emerging into the mix. There's an almost dream-like quality to the whole record, making it one of Nino's most striking from the 70s – and titles include "L'Uccello Magico", "Canto Della Buranella", "The Great Mouna", "Ricordo Di Henriette", "O Venezia Venaga Venusia", and "La Poupee Automate". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has light ringwear, some edge wear, and bent corners.)
