Fela & Egypt 80Underground System/Confusion Break Bones (CBB) ... CD
Wrasse, 1990/1992. New Copy ... $6.99 14.98
Late Fela – but great Fela! Underground System was released in 1992, but it sounds like Fela's best work from the late 70s – grooving away at a triple-time beat on two incredible tracks, "Underground System" and "Pansa Pansa". "Pansa Pansa" is especially great, as it's got these Cecil Taylor-esque piano lines over funky beats at the beginning – very odd, but very groovy! The CD also features the 26 minute bonus track "Confusion Break Bones", lifted from the ODOO album, and a compelling extended number with a weirdly off-kilter beat! CD

Johnny HammondDon't Let The System Get You ... LP
Milestone, 1978. Very Good ... $6.99
Post-Mizell, and less jazz fusiony than Johnny's mid 70s work, but not a bad funk album! The title cut's a nice groover that has a sort of sing-song Eddie Harris funk feel, and which features Johnny Hammond complaining about "The System", and how it's out to get him. Other cuts include "Contact Funk", "Ann", "For People Only", and "Losing You". LP, Vinyl record album

Herbie HancockSound System ... LP
Columbia, 1984. Very Good+ ... $2.99
The follow up to Herbie's groundbreaking hit album Future Shock. There's some rehashing of themes here, with the remake of "Rockit" called "Hardrock" here – basically the same number with some heavy guitar added and a few different solos – plus similar numbers that continue the electro feel, but also add in a peppering of Bill Laswell's world music interest. The album's worth it alone for the presence of D St on a few tracks – and titles include "Hardrock", "Metal Beat", "Karabali", "Junku", "People Are Changing" and "Sound System". ✨✧ Freedom Sounds featuring Wayne HendersonSoul Sound System ... LP
Atlantic, 1968. New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The second album by The Freedom Sounds – a very cool west coast soul jazz collective, headed by Wayne Henderson, and featuring a great mix of jazz, soul, and Latin rhythms! This set's a little more ambitious than the group's first album – with a number of tracks that groove in a very strong Latin jazz mode, sounding a lot like some of the best work on Atlantic at the time by Mongo Santamaria, Hubert Laws, and others. Henderson's trombone is still a key solo instrument, but the album also features some incredible sax work from Willie Gresham – a player we know little about, but who makes the album cook in the same fantastic way that Hubert Laws and Sonny Fortune did for Mongo's best work of the 60s! The grooves are very right-on, with plenty of excellent percussion work – and titles include the originals "Love-Out", "Behold The Day", and "Soul Sound System", plus some groovy covers, like "All You Need is Love", "What The World Needs Now Is Love", and "Are You Sure?" – all done with a great Latiny groove! ✨✧ Jack McDuffHeatin' System ... LP
Cadet, 1972. Used 2LP Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of the most amazing, expansive albums ever recorded by Brother Jack McDuff – a session that we'd rank right up there with his classic Moon Rappin for Blue Note – and which has an equally stretched out feel! Although some of Jack's other albums for Cadet in the 70s have a bit more of a keyboard-centric feel, this album's heavy on Hammond all the way through – played by McDuff with sharp edges, soaring solos, and that amazing sense of timing that few other players could match! But possibly even more amazing is the group on the set – a hip batch of cats who include Phil Upchurch and Sam Jones on bass, Don Myrick and Dave Young on tenor and flute, Bobby Alston on trumpet, Marty Roberts on guitar, and Derf Reklaw on percussion – all working wonderfully with McDuff arrangements on some very long tunes! The double-length nature of the 2LP record really lets the group stretch out nicely – and there's a tremendous sense of energy throughout – almost a mode that matches Charles Earland's Leaving This Planet album. Titles include "Ain't No Sunshine", "Radiation", "The Prophet", "The Boiler", "Pressure Gauge", "The Heatin System", "Elmo Tucker", and "Lonesome Is The Night". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ SystemSweat ... LP
Mirage/Atlantic, 1983. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The big breakout record for The System – one of the key soul crossover duos of the 80s! By the time of the record, electric instrumentation and studio technology had evolved to a point where a team like Mic Murphy and David Frank could put together a whole mainstream funk record like this on their own – and audiences too were a bit more open to accepting a world of overdubs and multi-track recording, and didn't need the 10-piece lineup of some of those late 70s groups to help them find their groove! The standout number here is the huge single "You Are In My System" – a cut that's wonderful in its simplicity, and somehow even better all these many years later, which it seems like less of a commercial crossover track than it did before. Other tracks follow a similar groove, and titles include "Sweat", "It's Passion", "Now I Am Electric", "Stand Up & Cheer", and "I Won't Let Go". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Aphrodite's Child666 ... LP
Vertigo, 1970. Very Good- 2LP Gatefold ... $29.99
One of the coolest rock concept albums ever – and arguably the crowning moment for Aphrodite's Child – an incredibly hip Greek group from the early 70s – featuring a young Demis Roussos on vocals, and Vangelis Papathanassiou on organ, piano, vibes, flute, and a lot of other instrumentation! Vangelis composed the whole set – as an extended piece based on the Apocalypse of St John – and the album was recorded in Paris, away from their native Greece – in a time of political unrest and cultural upheaval that's clearly referenced in the music! There's a really wide array of textures and moods on the set – from sinister to soft, freaky to peaceful, all laid out beautifully with a sense of poetry and power that few other groups could match! Irene Pappas performs a recitation, and also gives some sexy sounds on the classic "Infinity" – and other tunes include "The System", "Babylon", "Loud Loud Loud", "The Four Horsemen", "The Seventh Seal", "Aegian Sea", "The Marching Beast", "Capture Of The Beast", "Altamont", "Seven Trumpets", and "Hic Et Nunc". Clarke Boland Big BandAt Her Majesty's Pleasure ... LP
Black Lion, 1969. Very Good+ ... $4.99
One of the greatest long-form albums from the Clarke Boland Big Band – a sophisticated suite that not only shows off the writing ability of Francy Boland, but also demonstrates the group's ability to swing like a mofo, even when things are serious! The album's a jazz suite written by Boland, and dedicated to the great prisons of England – where Johnny Griffin was once kept "At Her Majesty's Pleasure", due to non-payment of some income tax. The experience of Griffin led Boland to explore the idea of the British penal system with a number of powerful emotional themes, and the result of this writing is one of the CBBB's best albums of the late 60s – filled with rich colors and tones that go far beyond the earlier modes of the group, but without some of the too-complicated elements that sometimes show up in later suites. A good part of the album's success comes from the strength of the soloists – players who include Johnny Griffin and Ronnie Scott on tenor, Tony Coe on clarinet, Sahib Shihab on flute and soprano, Kenny Wheeler and Benny Bailey on trumpets, and Ake Persson and Nat Peck on trombones. Titles include "Pentonville", "Wormwood Scrubs", "Doing Time", "Broadmoor", and "Going Straight". LP, Vinyl record album

Columbia, 1987. Used ... $7.99
Earth Wind & Fire touch the world with this sweet batch of grooves – a set of tracks that has them firmly embracing the electric sound of 80s soul, yet still bringing in some light spiritual touches of their own! The beats are pretty heavy at points – making for plenty of groovers – but the group almost seems to shine most on the ballads, which continue to provide a perfect showcase for the vocals of Philip Bailey and Maurice White. A few cool studio touches reference the group's earlier history – a nice reminder amidst the more contemporary sounds – and titles include "You & I", "System Of Survival", "Every Now & Then", "Money Tight", "Here Today & Gone Tomorrow", "Victim Of The Modern Heart", and "Thinking Of You". Knitting Factory, 1970s. Used 2CD ... $9.99
Hard to go wrong with a set like this – because in our opinion, just about every track recorded by Fela is a "best" – which makes the collection a massive batch of goodness all the way through! Every track here is presented in its original extended version – a dozen massive slices of Afro Funk, which packaged together equal the equivalent of at least 5 or 6 separate albums by Fela – another factor that makes the collection a great one! The 2CD set is filled with gems that helped redefine the sound of funk, soul, and world music back in the 70s – titles that include "Monkey Banana", "Everything Scatter", "Expensive Sh*t", "Trouble Sleep Yanga Wake Am", "Underground System (part 2)", "Sorry Tears & Blood", "Colonial Mentality", "Yellow Fever", "He Miss Road", "Black Man's Cry", "Mr Follow Follow", and "Na Poi". Kashmere Stage BandTexas Thunder Soul 1968 to 1974 (deluxe edition) (2CDs & DVD) ... CD

A massive exploration of the music of Kashmere Stage Band – the legendary Texas funk combo whose work has been pushed heavily over the years by Wax Poetics, Stones Throw, and many others! The double-length set goes even deeper than any of the vinyl reissues of work by the group – and features some previously unreleased tracks, alternate takes on their funkiest numbers, and a full 10 extra live tracks never heard before! The Kashmere groove is incredible – blasting horns, scratchy guitars, and funky drums – all wrapped super-tight around a range of original material and some more familiar numbers – all recast here in super-heavy funk mode! Studio tracks (Disc One) include "All Praises", "Thank You", "Scorpio (extended)", "Do Your Thing", "Headwiggle", "Do You Dig It Man", "Getting It Out Of My System", "Zero Point (parts 1 & 2)", "Boss City", "Burning Spear", "Take Five", and "Keep Doing It". Live tracks (Disc Two) include "Zero Point", "Don't Mean A Thing", "Thank You", "Ain't No Sunshine", and "All Praises" and more. – and the set also features a huge amount of detailed notes and photos. KC & The Sunshine BandWho Do Ya Love ... LP
TK, 1978. Sealed ... $2.99
Classic 70s work from KC & The Sunshine Band – a record that's not as hit-heavy as previous efforts, but still a plenty great set that's filled with catchy dancefloor funk! KC's clearly feeling the heat of the disco fire he helped to ignite a few years before – and there's definitely an ear hear towards tracks that would boom out nicely on a heavier sound system – kind of a deepening of the sometimes bargain basement production the group got on earlier TK records. That approach doesn't dampen the groove, though, and there's still a nice mix here of soul, funk, club, and tropical modes – sometimes a bit off the mark, but still a heck of a lot better than most of the group's contemporaries! Titles include a remake of "It's The Same Old Song", plus "Who Do Ya Love", "How About A Little Love", "Sho-Nuff'" and "Come To My Island". LP, Vinyl record album

Wah Wah (Spain), 1981. New Copy (reissue)... $29.99
A set recorded a few years after the big German prog heyday of the 70s – but a set that would be right at home with all the best classics from the time! Keyboardist Hardy Kukuk handles a huge host of keyboards – micro moog, Roland, and Yamaha keys – all in these long-flowing waves of sound that really stretch out, but with a quality that's often more in an extended space rock mode than some of the mellower, more spacious sounds that were then showing up in Germany – particulary on the Sky Records label. Most titles here are long enough to be featured on a vintage Brain album – and Hardy gets a bit of help from Andreas Schneider on congas and Klaus Bloch on guitar and "ping pong system". Titles include "So Mal", "Takt Der Zeit", "Erdtraumer", and "Fruhling 81". LP, Vinyl record album

Marley Marl produced, and the whole thing's still got a nice edge – even though some of these tunes entered the mainstream and got LL quite a bit of play in areas he'd never reached before. An amazing mix of McDuff's soul jazz organ sound with the genius that was the Chess/Cadet studio system of the late 60's – and one that yields such monster cuts as "Black Is", "Hold It For a Minute", "Two Lines", and "You Sho Walk Funky". Great stuff, with a gritty funky feel that's hard to match. LP, Vinyl record album

Jack McDuffKisses ... LP
Sugar Hill, 1980. Very Good ... $6.99
Sure, it's not McDuff's funkiest record – but this is an excellent batch of smooth soulful tunes that show that McDuff was perfect in just about any setting! The core group on the set is Jack's Heatin' System ensemble – with Joe Farrell on saxes and Phil Upchurch on guitar – but they're augmented by some cool spacey fusion arrangements that sort of feel like late 70s slick jazz sides for Mercury or Columbia. The style works great with McDuff's keyboards – and were the record pushed at a better level, it would have put Jack up there with some of the smooth jazz stars of the 70s. Cecil TaylorUnit Structures ... CD
Blue Note (Japan), 1966. New Copy ... $13.99
One of a rare few albums done by pianist Cecil Taylor for the Blue Note label in the 60s – some of the most outside work recorded for the imprint at the time! The word "structures" here is perhaps a bit misplaced – as the work has a strong sense of freedom with the soloists – who operate based on a system of energy and impulses described by Taylor in the notes, at a level that's maybe one of his most inventive, ambitious expressions of the decade! The whole lineup is great – with especially strong horn work from Eddie Gale on trumpet, Jimmy Lyons on alto, and Ken McIntyre on alto, oboe, and bass clarinet – and Taylor's piano gets accompaniment from two groundbreaking bassists – Henry Grimes and Alan Silva – plus drums from Andrew Cyrille. Given the lineup, and the format, the whole thing almost feels more like one of the BYG/Actuel avant sessions than Blue Note in the 60s – and titles include "Steps", "Enter Evening (Soft Line Structure)", "Unit Structure/As Of A Now/Section", and "Tales (8 Whisps)". A nice bit of spacey, funky 80s groove from Zinc – with some catchier pop touches thrown into the mix as well – a sound that's almost in the same territory as The System, given the record's use of beats, keys, and guitar! The album's co-produced by Jacques Fred Petrus and Mauro Malavasi – the latter of whom seems to be the main force behind the group, given his work on arrangements and keyboards on the set. It's nicely geared for the dancefloor, too – with all the songs rolling well past the 5 minute mark – and include "Street Level", "I'll Never Stop", "Livin In The Boogie Now", "Amazon", "Phunkulation", and "I'll Take My Chances". Do Right (Canada), Late 60s/1970s. New Copy ... Just Sold Out!
A second fantastic dip into the jazz archives of the Canadian Broadcasting System – home to a heck of a lot more great music than you might think! Since Canada never had great labels like Blue Note or Prestige back in the day, many of the country's best jazz players often recorded for broadcast – cutting some incredible work that was often as good as most of the US jazz of the same period, but which never got the same sort of mainstream exposure. But exposed or not, the music is totally great – and often in modal or groove-heavy styles here – no surprise, given that the package was put together by the folks at Do Right Records, easily one of the greatest sources for modern soulful records from Canada! The package gives long overdue respect to these key jazz gems, and is filled with tons of great moments that maybe even go past the strength of volume one! Overlooked genius from Led Zeppelin – an album that was missed by many the first time around, because of it's tight focus and simplicity! For the set, the group step back just a bit from their more stylistically sprawling tendencies – almost as if they got some of the more ambitious ideas out of their system with Physical Graffiti, or simply wanted to get out there and kick some ass – a back to basics move, and one that sees some tremendous guitar work from Jimmy Page! The album still has some longer songs and complicated changes – this is Led Zeppelin, after all – and the lack of over-played classic rock radio fodder actually makes this one a better listen nowadays than the more iconic albums. Amazing images galore – some classic covers from the Jamaican scene of the 60s and 70s, and lots more obscure images too – all presented in very vivid color, with a lot more clarity than any of the beat up original copies we have in our collection! The book really does full justice to the visual side of the reggae scene – and brings together a huge amount of covers we've never seen before, with others that look way more vibrant here than on a tiny CD reissue – presented in this record-shaped book that reminds us why albums always look so great in the racks! Most images are overflowing with color – really beautiful reproductions – and the oversized book is hardcover, and almost 240 pages overall. Book

Stanislas TohonDans Le Tchink Systeme (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Hot Casa (France), 1979. New Copy (reissue)... $24.99
Wicked work from Stanislas Tohon – a sweet batch of skittish grooves that occasionally include some William Onyebor-like electronics! The tracks are all upbeat and uptempo – fast-riffing rhythms that spin out wonderfully right from the start – with some vocals on most numbers, but also plenty of room for instrumental solos – including sax lines, keyboard parts, and some especially cool moogy bits! Rhythms are less Afro Funk than older modes, but kicked up a few notches – with boundless energy that never lets up throughout the set. Titles include "Yallow 2", "Dja Dja Dja", "O Kou", "Africa", and "Paix Lo". LP, Vinyl record album
(Heavy vinyl, heavy cover, and inner sleeve with notes!)

✨✧ David S WarePlanetary Unknown ... CD
Aum Fidelity, 2011. Used ... $9.99
New York loft scene talents and all around boundary busting jazz players of the very finest caliber – sax player David S Ware, pianist Cooper-Moore, bassist William Parker and drummer Muhammad Ali – together cruising the cosmos to Planetary Unknown! This is the first time these four have all played together in a group – but the sort of shared orbits they've traveled over many years nearly guarantees a brilliant set, and that's what they deliver. Recorded live at Brooklyn's Systems Two Studio in November, 2010. Includes the epic opener "Passage Wudang", "Shift", "Duality is One", "Divination", "Crystal Palace", "Divination Unfathomable" and "Ancestry Supramental". CD

VariousFunk Globo – The Sound Of Neo Baile ... LP
Mr Bongo (UK), 2013. New Copy ... $8.99 12.98
Contempoary Brazilian grooves compiled by the folks at Funk Globo – blistering batch of beats and basslines – all served up with a very intense sound! The music here isn't the trendy, intellectual style coming from Brazil in recent years – but instead the sort that plays big at house parties, underground clubs, and even street festivals where the booming beats are a perfect match for a well-crafted soundsystem! In fact, the sound here is so heavy, you might want to turn down the bass a bit on your stereo before playback – lest you blast the dishes off your shelves in the kitchen. Titles include "Vai Danada" by Guto De Almeida, "Saca Me Desse Banze" by Gato Preto, "Cicadas' Dance" by Chuck Upbeat, "Gostoso" by Ophex, and "Xao Trap" by DJ Comrade. LP, Vinyl record album

VariousRough Guide To Latin Rare Groove Vol 2 ... CD
Rough Guide, Late 60s/Early 70s/2015. New Copy ... $13.99 14.98
Heavy Latin grooves – served up with plenty of funk, jazz, and soul in the mix – and put together as a collection that's even better than the first volume in this series! DJ Pablo Yglesias seems to get sharper ears each time we tune into one of his projects – and this time around, he's come up with a massive batch of Latin tracks that goes way past the obvious – to include some really rare gems that move past the usual Fania classics. The set list is wonderful – and in keeping with Pablo's support of the global underground, there's also some contemporary cuts in the mix, but which sit perfectly next to the rare vintage tracks. Titles include "Camuri Chico" by Conjunto Papa Upa, "Un Clavel Una Tarjeta Y Una Lapiz" by Los Kenya, "Papo Boogaloo" by Papo Y Su Combo, "Steal Your Love" by Rene Lopez, "Tokuta (Kid Gusto rmx)" by Jungle Fire, "Yo Voy Ganao" by Systema Solar, "Fantasia Latina" by Nelson Y Sus Estrellas, and "Mi Chica Se Vuelve Loca" by Carlos Hayre Y Su Orquesta. ✨✧ VariousStrange Games & Funky Things 5 Smoking 70s Soul & Rare Grooves – DJ Spinna & BBE Soundsystem ... CD
BBE (UK), 1970s. Used 2CD ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of the hippest installments so far in this legendary series – an excellent back of laidback funky cuts – super-sweet stuff, with a great lowdown sort of groove! The rhythms here are all nice and mellow, but the cuts are still plenty funky – right at the right sort of pace to be the kind of older funk numbers that inspire the hip hop generation – usually with a different sort of sound than the 70s funk that was hitting the mainstream back in the day! Spinna's done a great job with the track selection here – proving that even if you're digging in familiar territory, picking the right cuts is still a hell of an art – and the CD version features one mixed disc, and one unmixed CD – with cuts that include "Family Tree" by Family Tree, "Get It Up For Love" by Ned Doheny, "Sweet Stuff" by Sylvia, "Capricorn Rising" by Richard Evans, "Motherland" by Sylvia St James, "Cameo" by Eddie Senay, "For The Love Of Money" by Philly Armada Orchestra, "Brazilian Skies" by Bill Summers, "Asafo Beesuon/Obaa Yaa Aye Me Bone" by CK Mann & His Carousel 7, "Hunt Up Wind" by Hiroshi Fukimura, "Always There" by Wood Brass & Steel, "War Is Coming" by War, "Hands Of Time" by Perfect Circle, and "I Ain't Got The Love" by The Ambassadors. ✨✧ Billy GriffinBelieve It Or Not – The Billy Griffin Collection ... CD
Columbia/Expansion (UK), 1980s. Used ... Out Of Stock
Wonderful solo work from Billy Griffin – the man who headed The Miracles after Smokey Robinson left the group – heard here on a string of classic 80s sides for Columbia Records! Billy's got a sound that's almost as sweet as Smokey at his best – but a groove that's a bit deeper overall, and which really came into its own on records like Respect and Systematic – both of which were heavy on keyboards and electric rhythms. The set includes the best numbers from both of those albums, plus a few tracks from Be With Me – and a few more pulled from Griffin's later album Like Water, as well as a few earlier Miracles recordings – all tied nicely together in a 16 track retrospective of his talents! Titles include "Hold Me Tighter In The Rain", "Understand", "Systematic", "Serious", "Olivia", "Believe It Or Not", "All The Way To Love", "Don't Ask Me To Be Friends", "So Many Ways", "If I Ever Lose This Heaven", "Be With Me", "Spy For Brotherhood", "Love Machine", and "2nd Day Love Story". ✨✧ Lee Scratch Perry & FriendsBlack Ark Years – The Jamaican 7 Inches ... CD
Trojan (UK), Mid 70s. New Copy 2CD ... Out Of Stock
Some of the greatest work ever recorded by the mighty Lee Perry – a searing selection of 44 seven inch singles – all of which were well-tuned to boom out of Kingston sound systems back in the day! There's a sense of focus here that's wonderful – still all the odd, dubby twists and turns that make Perry's music so great – but honed down into the space of tight cuts that really helped redefine the role of the 45rpm single in Jamaican music! Lee takes the lead on a few cuts, and sits behind the controls of Black Ark on all the others – and titles include "Vibrate Onn (Jamaican mix)" by Augustus Pablo & The Upsetters, "It Hurts So Good" by Susan Cadogan, "Dreader Locks" by Junior Byles & Lee Perry, "Police & Thief" by Junior Murvin, "Ital Corner" by Prince Jazzbo, "Sipple Out Deh (Jamaican mix)" by Max Romeo, "Down Here In Babylon" by Brent Dowe, "Three Blind Mice" by Max Romeo, "Land Of Love" by The Sons Of Light, "Travelling" by Debra Keese & The Black Five, and "Think So" by The Meditations. ✨✧ Dazz BandJoystick/Jukebox ... CD
Motown (Japan), 1983/1984. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
The Dazz Band brilliantly modernizes their sound for the early-to-mid 80s – without sacrificing the funk one bit on a pair of later Motown albums – '83's Joystick and '84's Jukebox in a single set! As you might guess from the title, on Joystick, Dazz Band thumps and pulses things into a style that's electro and computer groove aware. That said, their background in midwestern funky 70s soul is hardwired into their systems and they bridge the eras masterfully! Titles include "To The Roof", "Joystick", "Until You", "Rock With Me", "Now That I Have You" and more. On Jukebox, the Dazz Band hit hard with that catchy, synth-heavy groove that marks their other solid Motown work! The album's got all the catchy pop elements you might guess from the time – not as classically funky as the group in their roots, with lots of emphasis on the keyboards and guitar – that crossover Motown soul mode of the mid 80s. Titles include "So Much Love", "Dream Girl", "She's The One", "Heartbeat", "Let It All Blow", "Undercover Lover", and "Main Attraction". CD

✨✧ New MastersoundsIntroduction To The New Mastersounds Vol 2 ... CD
Legere (Germany), 2000s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
There's almost no introduction needed to the New Mastersounds – given how much greatness the group has given us over the years – a perennial favorite here at Dusty Groove, both with customers and our own soundsystems as well! But even if you know these funky stalwarts, there's still plenty here to love – as the collection does a good job of bringing together some harder-to-find cuts – work the group has done with other artists over the past decade or so – and some singles and compilation tracks that are hard to find too – great stuff to track down if you missed the original releases! As usual, the guitar of Eddie Roberts smokes the grooves brilliantly – as does the organ, bass, and drums – and titles include "Kuna Matata", "Make Me Proud", "One Note Brown (original version)", "Can You Get It (rmx)", "I Mean It So", "King Comforter", "Talk The Talk", "Bring It On", "You Got It All", and "Wack". ✨✧ Donna SummerAll Systems Go (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Geffen/Driven By The Music (UK), 1987. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
80s keyboard maestro Harold Faltermeyer gives Donna Summer plenty of help here – with the kind of catchy, hook-heavy lines that made his famous soundtrack work such a hit at the time! Harold had played on previous Summer albums, but really takes the lead here with a snapping, syncopated approach to rhythms – one that bubbles along nicely on titles that include "All Systems Go", "Dinner With Gershwin", "Only The Fool Survives", "Bad Reputation", "Love Shock", and "Jeremy". Very nice reissue – with a heavy book-style cover, lots of liner notes, and bonus tracks that include "Tearin Down The Walls", "All Systems Go (ext rmx)", "Dinner With Gershwin (ext version)", "Only The Fool Survives (edit)", and "Dinner With Gershwin (inst)".
